It's hard to say how WKU will fair against CUSA competition other than watching MT FIU NT and FAU this year. We lose a veteran group but we have some nice speed and size coming back/in. I won't pick us first nor will I say we will be last.

it was 23 in a row. I mean, that's a LOT. someone was coming out of that game missing something. that's the downside of playing someone with as many consecutive losses as we had.

anyway, look at the bright side. monk may have made the same mistake fedora made; fedora put 70 points on you in his first year, and never beat you again. in fact, one year you won the game and hurt our qb.

that last TD may have created the same karmic backwash for monken that fedora had to deal with for years.

...yeah, ODU looks about right at #5 in the East. Hoping that we can scratch out a 6-6 record and the rest of the East will just be better. The "never had a losing season" thing holds sentimental value to me.

I'll be pulling for ODU but not sure if they can go 6-6. They played 5 FBS opponents and went 1-4. I'll wait for the schedule to come out before making a guesstimate. The good thing is you'll have winnable divisional games.

MT might win the East. UTSA should win the West.

RE: 2014 Predictions
I think Tech and UTEP will be a better team next year in the West. UNT is high on everyone's list but they are losing a ton of impact seniors. McCarney is a good coach and perhaps they will do fine but I have my doubts that they will be as good in 2014 as they were this year. It is hard not to like UTSA in the west since pretty much the entire team will be back in their 5th year playing together. How will Rice do after losing a bunch of stud players?

I like Marshall and MT in the east with a slight nod to Marshall who are returning Cato.

Our OOC looks like @NC State, Vs. Hampton (FCS), @Vandy, and Vs. EMU. In-conference is unknown to me at this time. I think we can go 2-2 OOC, which means we would have to win four conference games. A tall order as you said, but I think if everything comes together we can steal a few that we are expected to lose.

If C-USA keeps the same schedule rotation, both UTSA and UNT will have to play in Houston next year, and Rice will travel to Louisiana Tech and UTEP. That is a break for Rice.

If USM acquires the Tulane schedule, Rice will also play in Hattiesburg, and get the new East opponent at home.

RE: 2014 Predictions
Next season is our 2nd in a row with too many unknowns to make a prediction I think. I'm hoping for 6-6 as Cameraman mentioned, never had a losing season and really want to preserve that.

We're graduating 11 Sr's but will have 23 Jr's stepping up with a large portion of our team being JuCo transfers and Rs/true Fr it was most of this years team first time every playing in a D1 game, let alone in this system/team. So next year is going to be the 2nd year together after what's going to be a very valuable off season to practice together and we have 22 freshman who red shirted this season that will be our first round of "true" FBS recruits on the field.

We could finish last or somewhere in the middle of the pack, who knows.

Don't count on keeping the same rotation. 13 team schedule is bound to be significantly different than this year's 14 team one.

East:
1)Marshall
2)WKU

4)FAU
5)ODU
6)FIU
West:
1)UTSA
2)Rice
3)NT
4)La Tech
5)UAB
6)UTEP
7)USM

We know USM is moving West, and UAB should move with them. I know we don't even know schedules and all that stuff, but this is really early like I said.

I could see MTSU and WKU battling it out for the #2 spot. I am extremely confident in our team next season. We lose some key players but we gain even better players. We lose Alex Bazzie, Rashwade Myers, Moo Moo Smith, Derek Thomas, Essray Taliaferro, and Brandon Sparrow. But we add the following to our roster.

*** Jr CB Keith Baxter will return from injury.

*** RS FR LB Kent Turene will return from injury. Never really saw action past game two. Kid was the prize of the 2012 UGA Class.
Turene Profile

**** WR Deontay McManus
McManus Profile

**** WR Angelo Jean-Louis
AJL Proifle

**** RS SO CB Donaldven Mannning (VT Transfer)
Manning Profile

***RS SO DE Ricardo Williams (Miami Transfer)
Williams Profile

*** RS FR Chololate Wilson
Wilson Profile

** RS FR RB Tony Pittman
Pittman Profile

DE/LB Jalen Stevenson (27 sacks his jr season)
WR Rodney Allen (big time talent from Texas but grades were an issue)
LB/S Raheim Huskey

One of our biggest issues on offense this season was that we had zero outside threats. Everyone and their mom knew it was going to Shuler and Gator. It killed us against Rice. They took those two away and Cato had nothing. McManus and AJL should solve that issue and then some. I have heard we will run a lot more 10 personnel next year with those two coming in and Gator getting drafted. Cato should have a field day with that. Our defense will get three studs added to it. Both Manning and Williams were going to be big contributors this season at their respective schools but found they made the wrong decision and didn't like being in blacksburg or Miami. Both were down to us and those schools last season and we thought we were getting them both. Manning is close to Shuler and Cato and Williams has some ties here too. He ended up not being a huge fan of Al Golden. AJ Leggett switched to us because of Golden.

We made it to the conference championship game this season and I fully expect us to win it next season. And with the schedule we have we better not lose an OOC game.

How big is the meltdown going to be if Marshall does take the East and has to go to San Antonio?

We are definitely looking good for next year.

Glad you posted that because I have been wondering what guys we had sitting out this year. I knew we had some good ones but couldn't remember what position, ranking, or what year they were.

Not to stir up trouble.. But have any of you checked out the Facebook page for C-USA and seen some of the comments the MU fans made..

Marshall fans, my favorites were:

C-USA screwed us.. No team wins the title on the road.

I can't wait until Marshall's contract is up, that way we can go to whatever conference we want.

I wanted to respond.

I'm glad Marshall had a good year, and I hope they have a few more. Someone has to lead the way. I'd really hope for several teams to make a ton of noise.
