even if it had a worse location ... it was inside. that's a huge advantage that should allow for better attendance.

And I have shown that it didn't have better attendance.

No, what Wilkie knows is, that SMU has an attendance problem in football, whether SMU game is played, when the weather is perfect, too hot, or to cold, when it rains, snows or has an ice storm! However, I under stand why many fans did not make the game today!

Good read.
Summary: Just another ECU attendance smack thread. Completely ignoring that most areas in the south are not prepared for these conditions. And distracting from the fact that the CUSA championship game was today, and they were not in it.

I agree with that. And the only way we will fix it is to fire June

Honestly, I wish. My wife and I are planning on cutting down a Christmas tree tomorrow, high of 86. Life in Florida....

You obviously are nothing but a troll. Every post you make is slamming something, and the irony of a Houston fan slamming other team's football attendance is rich.

It would have been cancelled if it weren't the last week of the season.
Ok, maybe I'm being harsh here but if SMU or any other AAC teams going forward--including my ECU Pirates--no show the Military Bowl or other cold weather bowls, do you think the bowl committees will cut the league a break and say, "lets keep inviting team______from the AAC. True they no showed our bowl because the weather was bad, but they had a good excuse and we should over look it and keep on inviting them" Does ANYONE see where I'm coming from?
No. It's not a question of "cold weather." There was NO WAY to get to the game for many of us. ROADS ARE CLOSED. LIGHT RAIL IS SHUT DOWN. I cannot spell it out any more for you. This was the winter equivalent of playing a game the day after a hurricane goes through a city.
I'm sure it's cold in Indianapolis. I wonder why they didn't cancel the Big 10 title game? It looks like there are more than 500 people there too.
Quit while your behind, you're just making yourself look foolish.

Under a thousand people at a D1 football game and you think that you did well? That's probably one of the lowest attended college football games OF ALL TIME.
You are a moron.

Well, maybe SMU should lower entrance requirements like Louisville and admit any high school senior with a pulse. Then SMU would have enrollment around 30,000 and we could fill our stadium.

ESPN, reported the 10,000 number. If you guys in the area know the truth that it wasn't actually 10,000 but only 300 then I'll take your word for it. Despite the negative insults hurled at me I do realize that Espin hates the AAC and always tries to make the league look bad.

6'0, 200 lbs. I'm a little hefty and about 6 pounds over the army height/weight standards so that's why they do the tape, to adjust for bigger boned guys or guys who lift weights. Any other military guys on here can back me up on this one.

Dallas, Little Rock, Memphis, Birmingham, etc aren't located in Iowa where there is some prep work done for winter storms. Engine block heaters aren't the norm on 4X4s in or around those cities. Neither my Mustang GT or MX-5 would have faired well in Dallas today.
When the city is unprepared and doesn't have equipment to get electricity back on, much less make the streets drivable; family safety comes before any sporting event.....and I take attending my team's football game pretty seriously.
If a city has a major winter storm once a decade, it doesn't make sense to be fully equipped to handle one every year. So, when the ice storms hit and a large portion of the city is without power, some folks' worlds are turned upside down, and football games fall to the bottom of the "important" list.
FWIW, we opened the doors to the FedExForum for our game today because of severe weather forecasts. As it turned out, the ice missed us and I think we had a normal crowd, but because of the weather, to try to maximize attendance, we did exactly what SMU did and opened the gate/doors to the general public.
Oldtiger, Besides Texas--which I know a lot of southerners don't consider "the real south"--I have lived in a couple of southern cities (very briefly) so I do understand a bit how it works. You're one of my favorite Memphis fans and a good person and I don't want to start anything with you.
