For ODU to beat VCU.
We aren't giving ourselves/the team much of a chance in this game. Most of us have probably seen as many ODU/VCU games in person if not more than Jeff Jones/Stith and Barrett have seen on film or on TV.
Here's what I would do.
1. Keenan Palmore has to be a beast.
We do not want to turn Bacote and Batten into ballhandlers, thus taking them completely out of the offensive attack. VCU wants to make your best scorers struggle and work to get the ball up the court. We need Bacote and Batten available to attack. That's where Palmore comes in, he's actually very strong with the ball and adept at dribbling directly into defenders for a foul. If I were Jeff Jones I would instill confidence in Palmore to break that POS press himself and ride the dog crap out of any referee that didn't blow a whistle the second contact was made.
2. Make Briante Weber beat us
Have you seen him shoot the ball? Half the time I can't tell if he's throwing an alley oop or if it's his jump shot. Mix it up, play zone, throw some pressure but whatever you do make Weber make plays and not Melvin Johnson or Tre Graham.
3. Attack the boards
ODU has out rebounded them the last 8 times and they are soft once again. Denzell Taylor, Joe Ebondo and Richard Ross should all get 5 offensive rebounds. Hell I would put Anton Larsen in and order him to throw his weight around. He has 5 fouls and they also suck at making free throws.
Enough of my rant.
