RE: Bowling Green Game Thoughts
I watched the replay, still hurt...couple things (not that any one of these things changes the result), but anytime you look back you see a ton of what-ifs:
- Lynch was a little off again with his throw (similar to orange bowl last year, although not as bad), but I also thought Matt Williams and Beebee just didn't quite get to the ball like Da'ron Brown would, late a few times.
- Bowling Green's secondary is freaking good, against anyone.
- Durante...wow a terrible game.
- Bass...wow a terrible game. At least both of those guys have next year, because they're good players, but just real bad games.
- Sure, their QB had a game, but I've never seen worst coverage. However...their RB, I give him major props, at one point, he had Ken Bishop on his back and got out and got yardage.
- I'm pretty sure every time BGSU had a 1st and 20, 2nd and 20, 3rd and 15, etc., they ended up getting the 1st down. That's just awful.
- They tried to help us out with tons of penalties. One thing you can say about NIU, they improved in the penalty department throughout the season.
- I really didn't have much of a problem with the playcalling looking back...not sure what people were upset about. A good majority of the 3rd downs we didn't convert were decent plays, just pass and WR not quite connecting (see 1st point), or see below for a near miss. Against a good D like BGSU, I think the O did plenty. The last pick was just a terrible throw.
- Really the end in the my opinion...was the drive after BGSU missed their field goal. You had Stingily starting to go nuts and the mo really changing...on 2nd and 8, we went deep to Canada, his foot came down inches in bound, if that falls in, who knows, it's always a game of inches. But to end it...Sims has to make the freaking kick to get it to 8.
- Another end....BGSU going on 4th and 4, still only down by 11, Johnson decides to scramble, Bass saw it, started sprinting in, and trips over a lineman's feet...looked like he had him dead to rights.
