CUSA football scheduling
The SEC is debating if they should go to 9 conference games with the league growth to 14 teams. My question is if CUSA should go to 9 games. I think I would like the move. Just wondered everyone's thoughts.

RE: CUSA football scheduling
It would be another guaranteed home game every other year. That would be nice.

No. Limits the opportunities for buy games for the team's in the conference that want or need them.

RE: CUSA football scheduling
The biggest questions would be how would it impact attendance and income?

In our case, we need a couple of games as big money games and a couple of home games as well.

The additional home game every other year would be beneficial such that we would not have to worry about scheduling another opponent for a home game.

Doesn't limit buy game options. If you want two you could still schedule two. Leaves a spot open for a D2 or other home and home series as well. I'd also try to schedule a 2 for 1 in some buy game settings.

RE: CUSA football scheduling
Why add another "home" game when lesion field isn't really viewed as home by many around here?
Economics aside, I'm tired of getting our a$$es handed to us for big payouts when I think it hurts us physically and psychologically. But at this point, they seem to be a necessary evil.

It does if you have out of conference rivalry games or in-state opponents that you rotate every year.

Schools like UAB want to play a D2 opponent, an in-state school, and two buy games out of conference.

In my mind FCS teams are not D1. No where close.

We are ending Troy series so our in-state needs must not be high.

Jacksonville State (FCS) probably could have beat us this year... Hell, Samford would have given us a fight too.

I said schools LIKE UAB. C-USA won't move to 9 games until it is absolutely necessary.

RE: CUSA football scheduling
The BCS conferences will only go to 9 conference games if they are allowed to expand the regular season to 13 or 14 games. They can't get fellow conference foes to come to their places EVERY YEAR for the relative pocket change pay out the peasant schools have to accept. They must have 3 or 4 of these games every year to maintain their huge budgets. They also like having 1/4 or 1/3 of their schedule relatively guaranteed wins toward bowl eligibility. (No one ever asks of them "Who have they played?")

Careful there. If you say JSU could have beat us, you are basically saying UNA could have as well. Those two played and went to OT.

Well, after watching a certain debacle of epic proportions seven days ago ...
