Por supuesto, eres pana beed. (Don't know if pana will translate, it's sort of a Venezuelan version of 'cool'......'first class', etc.

muchas gracias fanatico. most of my (poor attempt at) spanish is catracho/nica influenced. in short i eat my esses. i.e. bueno dia.....depue instead of buenos dias and despues.

Beed, you'd fit right in down here because, at least in the east of the country, that's exactly how they speak it.....como eta? instead of como estas? Voy manana por Caraca.....instead of Caracas.

More than one person has told me they enjoy listening to me speak Spanish because I speak it correctly.....I'm not fluent, but proficient.

Missouri State is actually more in the footprint than EKU. JMU is about the same. I agree the other two are too far out, but so was NMSU and Idaho.

I was finishing his last sentence.

I actually have very good pronunciation and was complemented on it but when I'd spend a week with the Nicas I'd end up unconsciously mimicking them. Eating esses is no different than what we southerners do whilst eating our gees. Por ejemplo... I'm goin' fishin'.

The first time I had depue dropped on me it took me 5 minutes to understand they actually meant despues. And the village Nicas take Bueno Dia one step further simply saying Bueno as a morning greeting.

I loved learning those little idiosyncrasies.

I believe you and I would get on quite well Fanatico. I believe if we ever ran across each other in a random prison yard we'd end up spotting each other on the weight bench. That's how I see it playing out. Totally no-homo for the record. (not that there's anything wrong with that....seinfield reference)

At this point I will be surprised if we don't hear of a 12th team by June 1, 2014.

You should visit Curacao some day......they speak a mixture of English, Spanish, Dutch, and Papiamento. Speak to them in almost any language and they'll understand you.

My dad grew up in S. Louisiana and had grandparents who spoke only French. He was, of course, fluent in French as a child as they'd spend the summers with the gp's. He later learned Spanish and then Portuguese.....traveled extensively in Central Ameria with rice research and later in Southern Brazil.

When you say Nica, are you referring to Nicaragua?

EKU and James Madison are about the same distance from App State and Georgia Southern. The other 3 East schools - EKU is closer to than James Madison is.

When you say Nica, are you referring to Nicaragua?

Yes. Nicas is short for Nicaraguense. I've been on 11 trips there. I really like the Nicaraguan people. And in the early 90's you could catch taxi rides in Soviet made Lada sedans held together with ~10,000 pop rivets. I learned some really raunchy Spanish things to say from Nica taxi drivers.

At one time I was studying French on my own. So many cognates with Spanish and English I believe I could pick it up. Just have to learn that too cool French sound.

I'm eligible for retirement next October when I hit double nickels and may try French out again.

I could argue with ark30inf about the go daddy if needed.

Wait. That's been done. Just a little bit.

Beed, my dad did rice consulting work in Nicaragua for a number of years and loved it. This was back in the early 70's before the Sandanistas took over. One of his best buddies there, a guy name Claus Singleman (German origin of course) had lived his entire life there before the government fell. When TSHTF, he flew a small plane across the Gulf of Mexico with family to Miami and was granted asylum.

Claus had rice farms so large that when they wanted to visit the other side of the farm, they'd fly instead of driving. 04-jawdrop

One of Claus's sons was a buddy of mine and invited on a trip there a few years later but it fell through because of my school workload. Sure would have loved to have visited the country.

I will definitely visit again post retirement. That's a great story about the size of the rice farm. I've never been in that part.

But I have been in the coffee and banana region.

I've also taken morning baths in the only lake in the world that features fresh water tiburones! Top that! LOL.

I'd rather have JMU, but EKU would work. As a TxSt fan I'd rather have them than Missouri State since MSU joining would have to send a current western school to the East.

Another option would be to go 14 with all three coming on board. This Way Missouri State could join with no movement in the West and tighter foot print in the East. I'm not sure if the savings in travel would offset adding two extra mouths to feed however.

West:

TxSt
Louisiana
ULM
Arkansas State
Idaho - football only
NMSU -football only
Missouri State
UTA
Little Rock

East:

Troy
USA
Georgia Southern
Geargia State
Appalachian State
JMU
Eastern Kentucky

$12 mil payout to 12 schools = $1m each
$12 mil payout to 14 schools = $857k each

So you're looking at a difference of $143k. Seems like a pretty low cost for the travel benefit, the insulation from future raids, and the future ability to lose Idaho (sorry Vandal fans).

WEST:

-Arkansas State

-Louisiana

-Missouri State

-New Mexico State

-Texas State

-ULM

EAST:

-Appalachian State

-Georgia Southern

-Georgia State

-James Madison

-South Alabama

-Troy

Drop Idaho, bring in Missouri State and James Madison for all sports, and make New Mexico State all sports and we have a pretty excellent conference to build on going forward. Fingers crossed.

I guess since we don't have football, UTA and UALR aren't Sun Belt members...

The whole thread was about FBS move up targets. UTA and UALR aren't in that discussion. No one is trying to say you aren't part of the conference for non-football sports.

Folks talk about insulation from raids, but... why?

Where are those teams going to go if we don't invite them today? If, for example, we invite and JMU accepts tomorrow. They join, start playing.

in 2020, CUSA decides to grab... Georgia State and Troy. Would Missouri State and EKU not be available at that point? If not, where would they go?
