I would find a matchup between the SEC and BE in the Liberty Bowl an attractive one.

You win the conference and you play in a BCS bowl. Therefore, there's no right to complain in my book.
L-Yes has a point. If there is a season where ND doesn't make the BCS bowls, that means the second place team (either UL or WVU) would be going to the minimum payout Tire Bowl.

I'm wondering if there are circumstances that would increase that bowl payout. For instance, suppose NC State got their act together on the field (we know Amato can bring talent) and got into the top 20. On the BE side, suppose it played out like mentioned above. Would the matchup demand an increase in payout, or is the payout fixed regardless?
The Meineke Car Care Bowl is actually more than a million now. It is no longer minimum payout. That is why they were so adamant about moving up to #3 in the Big East bowl order. Mike Tranghese, however, chose to set himself, and all of us fans, up to be "blindsided" instead.

The BCS - obviously - has the biggest payout of all. The Gator/Sun and Meineke Car Care are all more than a million. Only the Lone Star, International, and Birmingham are minimum payout now. While that is half of our line-up, we have to give it time, then things will improve later.
Krocker, How much bowl money do you think a 4th place team deserves? Thats why we have smaller bowls. The fans have a good time if the even decide to go and the TV folks sell a few commercials.
What the heck is your problem? Where did you see me say anything about how much money fourth place teams deserve? No darn where. Someone mentioned an incorrect figure and I pointed out the proper range. Can you read? Apparently not.

Boob doesnt understand that the Bowl sponsers are shelling out that cash in part to attract the fans of said school to their town. If they land 4th place WVU or Gawd forbid Louisville they are getting one hell of a deal for the pittanance they will be paying out and Louisville and WVU fans will be getting some crap matchup against a crap also ran from the MAC or CUSA. I'd much rather have a crap matchup with the Big 12, SEC or Big 10.

That horse has left the barn for the next four years. Maybe in 2010.

When Memphis becomes the 9th Member of the Big East Football Conference and the 17 or 18th Members of the Big East Basketball Conference. I could live with that, I doubt TS2 or Top Coog could through.

I'm sure you would. There are reasons such matchups aren't happening.

Well, it could happen in the Lone Star Bowl in 2006 IF the Big XII has a eligible team.

1. BCS Bowl vs. either SEC, ACC, Big Ten, Big XII or Pac 10
2. Likely Sun Bowl vs Pac 10
3. Meineke Car Care vs ACC
4. Houston vs. Big XII or C-USA

Agreed; our win over top-10 Boise State in the Liberty Bowl doesn't seem to carry too much weight.

The perception is still out there; the Big East needs to be playing BCS schools in bowl games.

We all need to be playing the best competition possible, the big east no more or less than the rest of college football.

First of all that is not going to happen. BUT, If CUSA went west Memphis would go as well, as would USM. Don't expect many changes for a decade or more.
