Better yet, did you see the report that Gordon "Foot in mouth" Gee will be WVU's next president! Talk about irony.......academics at WVU, hahahahaha

The money divide between the have and have not schools is simply too much to overcome in the new college football reality.
When you combine that with no pathway to the playoff system for non-Power 5 teams, and it makes it hard to understand why a good coach would stick it out at a smaller school.

I think that IF there are any more schools added to the P5 conferences, Boise State would not be one of them. Why else would Petersen take the Washington job.

If true, that might have interesting implications for UC with the B12. It appears President Ono worked to maintain a positive relationship with Gordon. While there were some unflattering references attributed to Gee it suggests UC was indeed top of mind for the folks @ OSU and they knew Cincy was a formidable research engine with a fast rising profile on what they believe is their home turf.
I have no reason to believe Gee has personal animosity toward UC so if he's no longer wearing the scarlet and gray he might now see UC as an asset to WVU as an athletic travel partner and collaborative research school. And he might take some perverse pleasure in thumbing his nose @ OSU by offering a hand up to Ohio's other major university's effort to reach a P5. How wild would that be?

Agree with this 100%. Boise State's best days in football are likely in the rearview mirror. Their academic profile and overall athletic program is way below PAC 12 expectations and way out of the Big 12 footprint. They're not even the flagship in Idaho!

I honestly don't know if he has a vendetta against UC, or if he is just loyal to his employer. Hell, he may now have some animosity towards OSU for the way they made him leave. Only people in his inner circle will really know. I actually think that a place like WVU and his brashness might mesh well. Lets hope he has a little bit of soul in his icy heart and thinks we could help the Big 12.

The guy will basically do whatever benefits his employer and since it would likely benefit the hillbillies to have UC in the B12 or any school for that matter in the eastern time zone, he'd probably be in favor of it.

I live in Morgantown... You need to be extremely precise here... Gee is the ****INTERIM**** President while the search for a permanent successor is completed. The INTERIM president is not eligible for the permanent position.
Gee will have NO effect on any decisions the B12 makes on realignment. He is at WVU merely to see to the day-to-day operations of the school. The Presidential search will commence in earnest (the process must be certified by the State) in January 2014 and should be completed by May 2014.
Just saying... Don't read too much into Gee either way.

BearcatJerry--thanks for the clarification on that key detail regarding Gee's role. I agree with you, as the interim, whatever role WVU plays in B12 politics will likely be dictated by their board, not Gee. At best, he would fulfill a consultative role at that point. We can only hope he would throw UC a lifeline and not an anchor!

Actually, I am apparently dead wrong... I am listening to Gee on the radio at this very moment and he is saying that he is NOT the INTERIM president...
Suffice it to say, I do not like Gee... He was the President at the University of Colorado when I grew up there. His time at tOSU was disgraceful.
So I don't know what to make out of the news this morning. Up till today they were talking about an "interim" appointment. But that's not what Gee is saying.

Maybe he needs some of those handpainted ties Jed wore on the Beverly Hillbillies.
