Congrats Marshall!
I know this is very late, but I was out of town this past weekend without internet and then at an out of town conference all week and was busy. So congratulations on the win.

The Thundering Herd looked impressive against my Pirates last Friday and dominated from beginning to end. Best of luck in the Conference Championship Game on Saturday. Rep Marshall and the East!

The East in terms of NC is still Purple but this year for C-USA football the East is Green! 04-cheers

RE: Congrats Marshall!
Well I missed this for sure and I don't want to stir it back up but can someone explain to me what C-USA did there?

I gathered from reading through the thread that the BCS rankings weren't used because they only "rank" the top 25. That's all well and good but there is a ranking system. Why can't they just plug in the numbers and see which is ranked higher?

I don't really have a horse in this race (though I will be rooting for Marshall because of familiarity and such) and I think both teams are pretty equally deserving but I am shocked to say the least at how this played out.

Good question. We've been wondering that ourselves. Why not just extend on the original formula like Jerry Palm does until either Marshall or Rice shows up? No they didn't do that. In short, CUSA didn't expect us to get votes for the top 25 and left them scrambling. Ended up being that they stretched it out to 125 teams, changed the formula and then did the math to determine who hosts. Rice got the nod.
