RE: ODU to build new stadium. Congrats Monarchs.
There are high schools in the city limits of Birmingham that have better football facilities than UAB, my alma mater is one of them, hell, I'd be grateful for a stadium like theirs if it meant getting out of the outhouse of Graymont Avene that the Blazers are forced to endure for the "forseeable future"...Sickening...

RE: ODU to build new stadium. Congrats Monarchs.
I would be surprised if we build much over 30k. I'm expecting something a lot like FAU's stadium, but with the bowl being completely closed off.
It ain't all about getting as many people in as possible either. Less seats means less supply, meaning higher prices (and more donations) for seats. Additionally, as others have stated, it's also about the fan experience - which is something ODU has done right to manage 100% sellouts for 5 years while playing an FCS schedule. We are going to have to get rid of blacktop in favor of parking garages, so if we have to do that too much, maybe people don't enjoy themselves because they can't tailgate, and then don't care to come as often, or even pay so much for seats.

Have you guys tried any petition websites or anything like that? If so, I'd sign it and get as many people I know to sign it as well. It is horrible how you guys are treated. I thought we had it rough in WV, but it doesn't compare to the hardships you guys have to endure.

ODU should shoot for 35,000 indoor multipurpose facility, a smaller version of the Carrier Dome if you will. State of the art facility for both Football and Basketball and would serve as IPF for football team.

The site is an apartment complex from the late 70's and a small parking lot, 1/2 a block from the Elizabeth river.

it'll be 78 degrees here tomorrow!!!! Saturday it'll be 43 degrees

Petitions, rallies, etc isn't going to change anything. Reality is UAB is going to have to make do with what they have. It's better than nothing and the BOT isn't going to give UAB an OCS.

We already have a great basketball facility in the Ted. An indoor football-only facility would be awesome, though.

Dr. Shapiro (COLORADO!!!) of ODU brought up the bowls/ncaa games/tourney's etc in a interview about the new proposed basketball arena on NPA Wednesday. Would be a really nice shot in the arm for our area to host many more basketball and football bowls/tourneys here.
