From Gary Parrish on CBSsports.com.

According to Parrish's twitter, he interviewed Haase last night and is writing a column today.

How did you enjoy a win at the expense of a mentor?

Again with the insults. Parrish described us and Belmont as bad losses.

Yes. We all know these two programs are not on par historically with UNC. However, THIS YEAR, either of those teams could compete with anyone outside maybe the top 5-6 teams in the country. We aren't a bad loss - that is complete bull dung.

I believe if we hadn't lost to UNM OR gotten thrashed by Temple, we'd be pushing the top 25 right now.

Nice article.
From the time he was introduced to Blazer fans to the present, there have been two words that identify Haase to me. Nothing has changed my opinion.

Those words are decent and humble.

He was emotional at his introductory press conference.
When receiving word that his biggest recruit to date was signing (Lee), he's watching Star Wars with his kids.
And he feels bad about beating his mentor three days after the fact.

We may never play North Carolina after next year, not because Roy Williams doesn't want it, but because Jarod Haase doesn't want it.

From North Carolina's stand point it is a bad loss. At the point of the game, we are a sub 100 RPI team. We are a CUSA team, and we are coming off two losing seasons, with low expectations from anyone not a UAB fan

It is up to UAB to prove that losing to UAB this year is not a bad loss. But at this point in the season, based on expectations coming into the season, it is a bad loss. Excuse the rest of the world for not having the faith and fandom of UAB fans.

Enjoy the win and most of all the publicity. But stop being so damn sensitive UAB fans. Saying a ranked team should win against an unranked team is not an insult

Well, I hope that's not true. Because it took Roy Williams all of three days to get over it.

See especially the 20 second mark for the next fifteen seconds or so.

First stop being sensitive. Second, it has yet to be determine if UAB or Belmont will be a bad loss. No more so than knowing if a Northeastern loss will be a bad loss for UAB down the road.

If you just look at from a North Carolina fan perspective, losing to UAB and Belmont is bad. Just like from a UAB perspective, losing to Troy or Alabama St would be considered bad to UAB fans.

Great video. Thanks for posting. It's nice to be reminded that even the elite players can act like kids and get excited over a big win.

How can a school have a "good loss" without treading the "moral victory" route that so many despise?

Because of RPI.

Saying that North Carolina fans and the basketball world in general think that UNC losing to any program which is not near the top of the heap is a bad loss is not an insult, it's common sense.

Duke, UNC, Kansas, and the like don't like losing, period, but they can understand it when it is another team on "their level". They don't view *any* C-USA team as such a team.

Well here's to bursting their bubble, shinning light on the myth. While they the elite were not looking parity came to NCAA basketball.
Unlike football where you have to find elite athletes all over the field, in Basketball its easier to find 5 good ball players, and you only need 3 really good ballers to dominate a court.

Parity has not come to college basketball. There is a whole lot less parity than there was even 10 years ago.
