I'll go with that. He sounds like my new top choice.

Interesting that GVSU just beat Col. St. Pueblo in the playoffs.

I just read his bio at the CSU-Pueblo athletics website. I am impressed with this guy. On a personal note, I really hate the west coast offense.

Does anyone else in the MAC run one (west coast offense)? If not it would make other teams defenses have to prepare for it.. I want a offense that will allow us to change the looks and formation. We need opposing Defenses to fear/respect/choose/guess/adjust to what we are doing on each down play and if they lineup wrong, adjust wrong then we have a making for a huge play.. This what teams were doing to us, keeping us guessing on defense..

I think everyone would agree that we have a big upside on offense that has not been touched yet..

What I don't like about changing offenses is that a lot of our current players might not fit.

I don't know how I'd describe our WRs, but 'West Coast' doesn't come to mind.

How does Hill, Jackson, Brumfield, Lewis, etc. fit?

Our linemen are not small west coach offense linemen which we recruited under Genyk.

tough going from Genyk to English back to a Genyk style offense.

I am no offensive guru like you but I remember watching a sorry Lions team under Mooch throw the ball for 3 yard outs over and over. I also have seen Mark "Dirty" Sanchez on Sunday nights do the same.

Does this mean that we would be destined to the same fate based on EMUDirtyBird's experience with two sorry teams using the WCO? I don't know. But from a complete spectator POV, I would be bored to tears. If we won using it though, those tears might be tears of joy.

I'm sure there are hundreds of variations of it like the spread. Like I said, I PERSONALLY hate the WCO.

I'm cool with Wristen, unfortunately Chris Symington is the Offensive line coach at Pueblo, He was on Genyks staff here at EMU and all the former players I know HATED him, said he was a bully a-hole. Dog cussed the players etc. With the whole English thing I'm not sure that's what these guys need again.

Meh.

He's not bad, but I'd rather have Cubit (please God please) or Haywood, as they've both excelled in the MAC.

We need to stay away from Haywood and Cubit though.

I usually agree with you right down the line, but we're on the opposite sides of this. Cubit is brilliant, and has transformed a downtrodden MAC program before...

I love you guys. Really. I do. But the roller coaster of emotions on this board with regard to potential coaching candidates is frightening. It's akin to the elation/angst that my oldest daughter displays every time she meets a new guy. One minute they're getting married, in her mind, and the next they're breaking up.

Within the span of a few hours we have learned that Wriston is a real, potential, maybe candidate, we have expressed joy, frustration and angst. We have expressed glee regarding his offense. We have expressed displeasure regarding his offense. Yada, Yada, Yada...

The man hasn't even been hired yet and we don't even know if he is really being considered beyond being contacted to gauge his interest.

The speculation is rampant and continues.

Wow!

I agree...BUT: He's being brought to campus, so I'd say the potential relationship is getting "serious". He's probably hoping we surprise him with a ring. 03-lmfao

I would not say Cubit is brilliant. He is a solid coach, but brilliant? That’s for the Urban Meyers and Nick Sabans of the world.(two former MAC coaches)

Fair enough -- I'm probably too enthusiastic at this point. I had made a promise to myself to remain detached from the search process and support whomever is hired. But, when Cubit's name is flying around left and right I get excited. I KNOW that man could get us out of the ditch. I don't see that certainty with anyone else mentioned.

Yeah but, Pudge, people get way too heated about something that may not even happen. At times I'm as guilty as anyone else. This occurred to me last week and I decided to stop participating in the clamor.

I understand, I think most people on this board just want to be able to be heard on their thoughts.. Plus I like to hear what others are thinking so after we hire a new coach, then I can hear if they are for or against the new hire and pick them apart..

This is like early Christmas for me, waiting for that special day.. One thing about bringing a new HC into EMU, is it will drive up interests with the fans and keep us here on the board guessing and wondering who will be his assistance coaches and the DC & OC. Then we can start talking about recruiting, spring ball, summer workout, summer ball, then the prediction for the season and the the 1st game..

I am already so excited !!!!

I just started following the EMU men basketball team and have been heart broken the in the 2 loses and wondering how do I keep putting myself in these situation..

Someone save me from the pain..

Oh, I'm excited too! I just think it's pointless for people to get all wound up about candidates mentioned here when we have no clue, really, about what coach is actually being solicited. Remember the brew-ha-ha about Haywood? People were slandering him all over the place and it appears as though he was never contacted beyond the initial phone call. That is ridiculous.

EMU will make its decision without any input or speculation from this forum. Yes, we're fans and alumni but we sure as heck don't have any say in who they're going to hire.

I disagree. I do think this board is read by someone connected with EMU. Examples:

A couple years ago I posted that Rynearson was drab, gray, and depressing. Shortly thereafter, the upper ring was painted green, the Convo was painted, fatheads, etc. It looks much better.

Then I wrote how it would be cool if EMU basketball played some games at Bowen, citing how it was neat that MSU played a game at Jenison Fieldhouse...coincidence? I don't think so, I think smart businesses, ie universities do market research. We are like a FREE focus group of passionate, mostly knowledgeable EMU fans.

Now if Heather Lyke would PLEASE make sure game day camera crews would shoot football games from east side stands, it would be a HUGE improvement on TV.
