Rebuilding UTEP will play at Kansas St in 2014 instead of loaded UTSA playing there.

UTSA apparently bought out of next seasons scheduled game at Kansas St and they've been replaced by UTEP. It's beginning to look like our traditional rival, NMSU, may not be on the schedule. Damn. That was our only automatic win.

UTEP's 2014 OOC schedule

8/30 @ UNM (UTEP lost at home to these guys in OT this year)
8/06 Texas Tech
8/13 @ Kansas St (guessing on the date but it fits, no official date yet)
8/20 Colorado St (lost by 17 at their place this year and they are bowling)

If that schedule remains in place then we have no room for NMSU and they also have 4 scheduled OOC games with no room for UTEP. They would have been at our place too. Normally I would love this schedule but we all know how far UTEP has to go before we can compete with TT and KSU.

I'm on the fence on this one.

On one hand, I like to see UTEP play good competition.

On the other hand, losing to these schools early likely will hurt attendance and confidence.

As for NMSU.

Why doesn't UTEP and NMSU play their rivalry game during rivalry week like all the other schools?

I would love to see them play a Friday afternoon game every year.

That way, the wives could go shopping and drop off the husbands at the game to get drunk and start fights.

While a guaranteed win is needed right now, I still believe a big name is better for recruiting and makes for a nice payday. Hopefully the body bag games help make the team stronger come conference play and dont end up as injury fests or confidence killers.

I'm glad to see all FBS schools on there. Would be great if UTEP can go 2-0 over the MWC

That would be great but it's going to be tough.

Both CSU and NM are on the rise and should be better programs next year.

UTEP will have to improve dramatically to beat them.

Why we playing four games in August?

I like that idea. At least get it rescheduled for another year. NMSU has a road game vs LSU they could move to another year as well but they are probably getting a big payday for that one. If they drop their home game vs Cal Poly SLO then they would only have 5 home games.

The date for the Kansas St game was announced by KSU and it will be on 9/27. That leaves 9/13 as open dates for both NMSU and UTEP.

I still think that a Friday after Thanksgiving game would be great for the area. When UTEP has home games, I could say many Aggie fans coming down to El Paso and making a day of it with Black Friday and such. Likewise, I wouldn't mind driving up to LC with my family to see the game knowing that my wife and kids could do some shopping over there.

On-line article in EP Times says UTEP traded a home game with CSU for the road game at KSU and we will have NMSU at home but no date yet. So Shy, your idea seems to be what actually will happen.

We will play NMSU on 9/13... Unfortunately, that limey boy band One Direction is playing the Sun Bowl on the 9/19. Doubt the field and area will be clear in time for a 9/20 home game.

Make sure you get them in UTEP jerseys....There will be here too. I guess any marketing is good marketing
