I think it's still way too early to make that statement. UAB has a really tricky trip to Northeastern this weekend, and a game against LSU as well. La Tech has looked pretty solid, but really have no win of note. UTEP has played a great schedule, and although they've suffered more losses than wins rights now, they have talent to compete in the conference. Charlotte has looked really good ever since the Charleston loss. MTSU has looked good again as well, and although they have no wins of note yet, their chances are coming in the next few weeks.

I still don't know how good UNC is, but I imagine they'll get better as the season goes on. If they get those players back, that will take a little away from the UAB win. Now, it really hurts that UAB couldn't pull that game off against New Mexico. Those two wins would have been something to talk about, and we would have gotten a shot at UMass as well. I still think our conference's problem is going to be we have a lot of good, but not great teams. I really think we are going to have about 6 teams bunched together with 10-12 wins in the conference, and that's going to hamper anybody's cause for an at-large.

Good points. My prediction is definitely way too far in advance no doubt, but from the small sample size I've seen thus far, UAB has impressed.

Yeah, Hasse is the only thing that will get Chapel Hill back to Bartow Arena.

So, basically a three-for-none. GFY, Heels.

That was nc state in the mid 90's when they were terrible.
We played them at their place once and destroyed them. We have not spoken to them about playing since.

I've never even heard rumors of playing Chapel Hill.

No, I think that was Chapel Hill. The Tar Holes basically wanted to be the home team while playing us in Charlotte. I think Lutz told them to f@#k off, but I could be wrong about that.

But yet Williams wasn't told no when he did this favor for Haase. I don't know if Williams has a relationship with Lebo. You do know UAB currently has a 2 for 1 with UNC right?

Roy was an a assistant coach at UNC when Lebo played, and Lebo has played UNC every where he's coached. UNC and AU had a hone andwhen Lebo was there, canceled after Lebo left AU. Roy has said on the radio here he was willing to do a home and home with us and Lebo, but "other factors" stopped it. Those same factors will end the series.

I'm thinking it is because ECU plays in the same state and UNC doesn't want to do the Pirates any favors. Completely different situation than Haase and UAB.

Stems back from and old Dean Smith decree not to play any non ACC in state programs. It's just the "nothing to gain everything to lose" excuse we've heard for decades.

This is correct, but remember we did play Chapel Hill ONCE in Chapel Hill. Early 1998-99 season and lost in OT, just like the NCAA tourney game 8 months earlier.

And it is very true. What good could possibly come from Duke, UNC, NC State, Wake, etc. playing at ECU?

Hell yeah I remember that game in the Dean Dome because I was there. If Kelvin Price would have just hit those free throws at the end that game was ours. I did like how our contingent of fans could be heard over the Tar Hole crowd yelling "Green Dome" instead of "Dean Dome". I went to a gathering afterwards and had Tar Hole fan tell me he was on the interstate and pulled off to the side of the road to listen to the end of that game because he was so nervous. Sucks we lost but that was great game. lol haven't been invited back since. No moral victories though.

Charlotte's win over Michigan was as impressive, maybe more so since it was at a neutral site.

It's not that, they have played other in state schools over the years, including Dean Smith. My Uncle is a Rams Club member and has been for over 25 years. Roy can set the schedule for the most part how he sees fit, but there are times that the big wig money guys say no and that puts an end to it. They will do everything they can to protect UNC's image. By forcing UNC to not play some schools especially mid-majors that play them close by threatening to pull millions from the school.

Roy was 100% okay with a home and home with ECU, did not bother him at all. But, was told no, he even told Lebo they talk about working out something down the road after the game, 2-1/3-1, something that would give ECU a home game. After playing them so close Roy was told to drop it, even one and dones.

If Longbeach St ever plays them too close that series will end real quick.

Maybe I phrased it wrong, they wouldn't play any non ACC in school teams that had a chance to actually beat them, but that was under Dean Smith. Williams seems to be different, which is a good thing, just don't beat them if you want to keep playing them.
