RE: Dec 1st BCS projections
This link has UCF jumping too from #19->#16. By barely getting by USF? Okay, NIU barely got by WMU who sucks too -- but why/how does UCF jump?! Okay, they beat Penn State in early season -- and Penn State won, which ups their computer ranking.... but their SoS also lowers by playing USF... and barely winning shouldn't up their votes at all!

In the end, I think the voters are going to play a big role. Tomorrow we'll all be wigging out about the voter polls, then awaiting ESPN on the BCS rankings.

And Paul Walker died! WTF?!

I also have UCF at 16 in the first message of this post, I think its reasonable to think that is where UCF ends up due to combo computers/human polls

Interesting point. An NIU win over BGSU just might catapult them over an idle Oregon. Arizona St could lose in the PAC12 championship, Baylor could lose to Texas, and Michigan State could lose to Ohio State. Heck if all those happened, maybe top 10!

Yep. Top 10 is not out of the question at all if things break our way. Some dominos finally fell yesterday, which is about the first time it happened since week one. It is not likely, but imagine seeing a sigle digit ranking next to NIU for the next month!

UCF is going to benefit from Wisconsin and Fresno State losing ... It opens up two slots in front of them in the BCS standings. Unfortunately, there are no slots in the BCS standings ahead of NIU.

That will be a close one with Clemson. I'm not sure we will stay ahead of them. Palm also has us really high in the computers, I'd be surprised if they fell that far for playing a close game with #10 South Carolina.

RE: Dec 1st BCS projections
We may gain a few votes on UCF due to their ugly win over South Florida. When they nearly lost to Temple, they lost 60 votes. But our 19 point win over WMU was hardly a top 20 performance.

We're currently 53 votes behind UCF in the coaches poll, I think it's more probable it shrinks than grows. We also have an 81 vote lead on UCF in the Harris poll.

Since when is a 19 point win barely getting by? They had a 26 point lead and then ran the clock out when it got to 19.

UCF won by 3 at home in perfect weather conditions and it was won in the last 5 minutes. That's barely getting by.

You may want to look up the definitions of some adjectives before you use them.

True. Which is my central point, scratching my head, how UCF could jump 3 spots when they barely got by USF. And you're right, it wouldn't be fair to say NIU "barely got by" WMU -- I was saying that more like "if one wanted to be anti-NIU, fine, BUT how does UCF go forward?"

But as other people point out, NIU had no room to move up, and UCF will go up just by not losing.

RE: Dec 1st BCS projections
I have to admit, now that there is a little controversy with whether or not Ohio State deserves to be in the National Championship Game instead of the SEC one-loss champion...all of the focus is off of whether we deserve to be in a BCS game or not.

IF we win the MACC, I look forward to being able to enjoy it a little more rather than feeling we are being targeted as an awful thing that a MAC school broke into the BCS. Cheers to that!

And that controversy is only going to grow, NIU will just be a sidenote on the BCS selection show if they make it, THANK GOD.

Buckeyes have no chance to get in, I understand a 1 loss Auburn team getting in over them though. But coming off 2 back to back seasons, there will be some huge angst. All I hope is that NIU at 2 and OSU at 3 in Sagarin doesn't doom the Buckeyes, how funny would that be.

If NIU wins and ASU and Michigan State lose, NIU slips into that coveted 12 spot.

Btw, I think Michigan State can beat Ohio State

Agree. If they do make it to the NC wouldn't be surprised if they lose by 2TDs

I'd like to see Ohio State lose by 21 to Florida State and see if Herbie (and plenty of others) would call it a blowout and then campaign to keep the Buckeyes out of the final 4 next year.

Whats the over/under on number of minutes into BCS Countdown show that the extreme injustice of NIU being 2 in Sagarin and corrupting the 2 vs 3 debate is brought up?
