Almost got them. Missed 10 free throws. But, we fought hard all game. I hope they get a lot of momentum from this one.
It's our first ever loss to them (3-1 now).

We almost had them but like you said bad free throw shooting. Man, Wilms is just terrible, he missed four in a row. Those four could have made a difference. He needs to practice, practice, practice. Oh well, off to our next game.

I don't understand Wilms. Granted, I've never had to be 7'1" and shoot free throws, but he's got a really nice stroke. He should be in the 75% range.

Game started 15-2 about 8 minutes in and was 59-45 with 2 minutes left. Miner did a great job fighting back, but just couldn't get over the hump.

I really hope the miners use this as motivation and it shows them how hard they must play at all times... There is gonna be a stretch of easy games coming up and I hope that doesn't drop the intensity from this game

This team can play with anyone in the country.... But can also lose to anyone in the country.....
It needs confidence, and without sounding like a homer, I really think this game makes them realize they can go as far as they want.

I was proud of the effort and defensive intensity especially. We need to make our free throws. We could have won today had it not been for all the missed free throws and missed opportunities. Overall, I really like the team. Floyd is a great coach, and will get many opportunities to outcoach the rest of C-USA. I don't see anybody else in C-USA being as good as Tennessee, let alone Iowa or Kansas. Iowa will probably be battling Michigan State for the conference title... that's a damn good team.
We have been spoiled by Randy Culpepper, Stefan Jackson, Brandon Wolfram, Omar Thomas, etc. This team doesn't have a superstar yet, but this might be the best defensive team we've had in years. I think we have lost way too many recruits, one of which I'm sure Tim Floyd was looking to be our scoring weapon. This team was built perfectly for a guy like Isaac Hamilton. Damn shame.
Vince Hunter will be a beast, as long as he stays. Really like Julian Washburn, although he's not a great offensive player. If he had a jump shot, he'd be a 1st round caliber talent. I like Crosgile. Even though he's a twig, I like Wilms' potential. McKenzie Moore might be our best offensive player.

I agree 100%.
My concern however is that defense no longer wins championships.
