UTSA paid Larry Coker $350,000 for a 7-5 season.

David Bailiff $500,000/yr Rice 9-3

Franchionne $375,000/year Texas State 6-6

Todd Berry $400,000/yr LA-Monroe 6-6

Joey Jones $400,000/yr USA 5-6 with one game left

Jeff Quinn $400,000/yr Buffalo 8-3

Matt Campbell $400,000/yr Toledo 7-4

Dave Clawson $375,000/yr Bowling Green 8-3

UAB over-paid Mike Davis for mediocre results but he was under-compensated compared to McGee. $1.1 million for 3 FBS wins.

Un-freaking-believable.

RE: Dear UAB Football Player,
I think McGee is looking for the big pay off to be next season. Offense could be more consistent, defense will be an extra year older so things are looking up some can't afford anymore stupid position changes.

RE: Dear UAB Football Player,
I love each and every one of these guys for coming to my school and playing for me. And I will stick by them no matter what.

I don't think the next year promise is empty for the seniors. UAB is gonna be their alma mater forever. When we go to a bowl game or have a 10-win season, it's in large part on them. They've been through the wars. Each class has an impact on the next. The true freshmen and redshirts this year could really be something special down the road.

Hopefully these guys will all stick around and be boosters and season ticket holders. Maybe their kids or friends will come play here. I don't think it ever has to end for any of them.

To the players.

You did all that was asked and you did it with class.

Sometimes you learn more from adversity than you can ever learn from success.

Stay gold Blazers! Good times are ahead for you!

What about the seniors? They deserved better. The next year promise is so empty.

It's heartbreaking for the Seniors. A lot of them have gutted it out, played through pain, etc., and now have to end their playing careers with a humiliating loss.

McGee stated in the postgame show on radio that several of the players were in the locker room crying their eyes out. And to the poster that said the "next year promise" is empty...I have to agree...It's just another soundbyte. I don't see how this program can market itself to this populace that has been bombarded with one disappointment after another for nearly a decade now. The heat is really on McGee and the Blazers now, but they're expected to take on and vanquish better equipped opponents with nothing more than a wing and a prayer.

RE: Dear UAB Football Player,
I agree with Dragon that this was the wrong place to make the comment but it's still true. I'm quite sure the seniors from the last 5-6 classes would agree. I know many are quick call out posters who point out reality as having given up but it's not that at all. Look back and tell me those guys didn't deserve better. Look back and tell they didn't "play their part". The players are the reason I became a Blazer fan to begin with and the reason I still am and will be. But they aren't stupid. Those guys "crying after the game" deserved more and we all know it. Nothing that you can say about "next year" is gonna make them feel better. That's what I meant.

Only 15 seniors this year, and not all of them were regular players.

Great post, Uncle BLAZER. It's sickening to see these kids work so hard, play through pain, and get such lousy results. I love the players, but they DO deserve much better on several fronts.

#4 ganus asked us not to give up on them after the game. We told him we never would let's keep it that way go Blazers.

They would have cried even if they won. When your career ends, it is tough. We won my last game at UAB and I was injured and couldn't play. I dressed out anyway, and I could barely stand to take off the pads after the game. I was thinking about all the years I spent playing football from middle school onward plus all the years as a small child that I dreamed of playing in college. Knowing that it was all over was tough!

The returning players are already turning disappointment into a fire to do better next year. Next year is all they have right now. It is when the next game is!

By the way, thanks for spoiling The Walking Dead on Twitter for me while I was driving back to Memphis from the game 04-chairshot

I watched it, too. One hell of an episode. February can't get here fast enough.
