One source said there were five viable options, with bowls essentially pitching deals to the Irish to entice their participation.

By Thursday, another source said the Pinstripe Bowl was meeting every demand Notre Dame was making, including per diem allotment, potential opponent and access to the Giants' indoor practice facility in East Rutherford, N.J.

The date was attractive as it will not interfere with Notre Dame's finals schedule. The seniors began to warm to cold-weather New York as a preferred destination, even if some staffers and players were hoping for a long-shot deal with the Hawaii Bowl."

What would be the demand for potential opponent? It looks like there are only two choices...Houston and Rutgers. Rutgers has to win tomorrow just to even be considered.

That's a good question, who would ND want to play? Or do they care? A game vs UC would get the most attention/storylines probably but UC is playing in the Belk.

A game vs Rutgers might be ideal. Guaranteed to be well attended and based on RU's play of late probably an easy victory for those who made the trip.

I never thought ND would care so much about warm weather. New York is a FANTASTIC place to visit during the holidays and ND has loads of fans up there.

Notre Dame vs. Rutgers in a rematch from 1921.

I went to a Notre Dame "home game" against Army several years ago at Giant's stadium. It was a sell out with most of the fans (except the Corp) being rabid ND fans who made a ton of noise. My guess is that the stadium will be a packed sell out. If the opponent is Houston, I doubt many Cougar faithful will be there. This may well become a ND showcase game.

The 2010 Shamrock Series "home game" against Army was at Yankee Stadium, the same venue as the Pinstripe Bowl.

Did you mean this game or some older game against Army?

I think you are right. It was against Navy. My bad. But definitely at Giants Stadium and a crazy Irish crowd. I think Navy won on a last second touchdown

Pinstripe Bowl may not be as done of a deal as being reported by others. i'm told Irish aren't making final decision until the morning.

One Notre Dame source told me that the Pinstripe Bowl is not the only bowl the Irish are still talking to at this time.

Doesn't mean ND isn't going to end up in the Pinstripe Bowl. It's the likely destination just that its not done done just yet it appears.
