UAB pulls off the upset! The Tar Heels fall on the road, 63-59.

LOL good for UAB. I know UNC isn't anything to write home about this year with losses to UAB, Belmont, etc. but still good to beat them.

UAB's BEST win ever was that year they knocked UK out of the big dance…I think the game was in Columbus? Can't remember. GREAT memory.

That was the team that had those twins and all they did was press the entire game an played their whole bench.

the UAB team I hated to play when we were in Great Midwest was that one that had that 6'7 kid named Shannon or something like that. He could hit three's or slash. He was really long. That team gave Huggy fits.

Memphis turned around and beat #5 Oklahoma State 73-68 after losing to them earlier 101-80. So now Josh Pastner has a Top 5 win. They held Marcus Smart to 12 points.

San Diego State followed up an upset of #20 Creighton with a victory over #25 Marquette. SDSU has now defeated a ranked opponent 12 times since January 2010.

Tough tournament for the "Big East".

San Diego State has been impressive. I wish we were still playing them in the future. Outside of Nova the "Big East" has been a huge disappointment thus far. Marquette's offensive woes in the last 9 or so games make us look like an offensive juggernaut! That is a team that can't make an outside shot.

Last year I wouldn't have cared, but congrats to Pastner and the Tigers for getting payback tonight. It's early, but it's nice seeing both UConn and Memphis very high in the RPI. For those that thought our OOC schedule was bad (projected #132 OOC SOS), just take a look at UL's (projected #175 OOC SOS).

With Marquette's loss it appears the "Big East in Name Only" Conference may not have a top 25 ranked team by next week unless Villanova climbs in. Can't imagine the real Big East was ever shut out of the polls during the entire existence of the league.

With Memphis and UConn climbing; Louisville a championship contender and UC undefeated the AAC is looking pretty solid in roundball as predicted.

It helped that Smart had the flu.

What's really ironic is that you can make a legit argument that the A-10 has looked better than the "Big East" this year.

I don't think the American has looked all that great either. Louisville failed their only test so far and the middle of the league is just ok. SMU and Temple are probably the 5th and 6th best team at this point. Top of the American is good but I have no clue how bad some of bottom members are. On a national level the top eight to ten leagues look rather equal. Regarding the Big East, it looks like a great NIT league. Outside of Villanova there isn't a team out there building a non-conference profile worthy of selection. They will get three to four teams in the dance but most of them are going to get low seeds.

UCONN just won a very entertaining game against Florida at home on a buzzer beater from Shabazz Napier. Not only did he make a 3 and get fouled down 3 to put UCONN up 1 with about 20 seconds left, but then after Florida scored to go back up 1, he got his own miss which was deflected on the rebound and made a free throw line jumper as the clock expired. Very entertaining game between 2 seemingly good teams.

Looked to me that Napier walked or carried or double dribbled on that last play. It was definitely entertaining though.

Michigan State will have a short stay in the #1 slot after last night's whipping by UNC. Good to see NC State blow Northwestern out last night. The UC victory over the ACC Wolfpack will likely gain some RPI value as the year continues. Mick mentioned on his show last night how well NC Central is doing. Out of the opening seven games the two NC schools may turn out to be decent victories come March.

Nice going, Dalton Pepper. With Temple up 2 in OT he left the line early thinking his FT was short... it went in. The violation waived it off and Texas hit the winning 3 on the next possession.

North Carolina State may turn out to be a quality win for UC. They handled Tennessee last night in Knoxville and blew out Northwestern a few weeks ago. UC should beat Nebraska. If so, they'll have preconference wins over two ACC teams and one from the B10. NC Central continues to win so the pre-conference schedule for UC probably turns out stronger than in the past couple of years.

I know you shouldnt hold much stock in RPI numbers in December, but I like this page gives you a snapshot look and where everyone sits in the grand scheme of things.

That said, NC Central is actually a Top 100 RPI win for UC right now. Our second best win only to Pitt. NC State is on the cusp at 104

I don't watch much Kentucky but when I have aside from Randle they don't appear as über talented as everyone made them out to be.
