Another brilliant statement...."Imagine if NIU ever had a great D"...hmmm...let's see...we would be undefeated, two wins against Big 10 teams, going for a 3rd straight MAC Championship, and hopefully a 2nd straight BCS Bowl.

We do NOT have a great D. That is a ridiculous statement on your part.

This thread is Exhibit A in the case against us ever making fun of the goofy pie in the sky stuff people on other boards say.

Well, they'd be in position to only lost to BGSU by beating themselves. Without a great D, and how good BGSU is (with their D, and their potential with their O), NIU doesn't have to beat themselves to lose to BGSU.
And also, NIU would be ranked higher, and no sweating about the champ game, ranking going into bowl selection, etc. The margin of victory would have increased and made anti-non-AQ or MW-only-for-non-AQ voters/analysts shut up when judging NIU, as they'd have room to talk.

The point is, Einstein, we could not have done any better than we did, and are doing...WE ARE 12-0...our D is not great, but they have done pretty damn well when we needed them to...for once can we be grateful for where we are.

You an idiot. I was not only talking about this year but future years as well. And we could have done better. Of NIU had a shutdown D we wouldn't have had to worry about Fresno losing.

I disagree. Our position in the polls had little to nothing to do with our defense. It was either voter bias due to the OB last year or because we started behind Fresno in polls - which I would argue is because of last years loss in the OB.

RE: If NIU goes undefeated this year and all of next year.........
We have a distorted sense of how good our team is because Jordan Lynch is just ridiculous. We lose a lot next year in addition to Lynch and realistically we're looking at 7 -5, maybe 8 - 4. Maybe, maybe somewhat better than that if a lot of IFs fall into place. If our quarterback plays well. If we find some JUCO help for everything on defense except linebacker. IF a bunch of redshirt freshmen and true freshmen play really well. If Arkansas, Northwestern and UNLV don't turn out to be top 20 teams. We don't have to worry about going undefeated because we will not come close to that.

Wow! I have read this 4 times now and I still struggling to get the point; so if our D was better we would be ranked higher; we wouldn't have to worry about beating ourselves against BGSU; not sweating out the bowl selection process? I find this laughable.

I'm exaggerating! I am saying Lynch is a special player and probably most notable for many years in the MAC
A lot of people are saying undefeated again. I am saying lynch is a lot to lose
What percentage of offense would you say he is?
It's completed honesty with bias aside! He is the offense and a leader on the field. That is a lot to lose
No doubt. He is a once in a generation player. He is unbelievable and is the most valuable player on any team in the country.
