Dixon
Obviously this wasn't his best game and he took some selfish shots, but it seemed he was cheering the hardest on the bench. Thought that showed a lot of character and that he truly just wants to win.

RE: Dixon
I agree with what you said. I think Dixon needs to learn that he isn't the best player on the team and needs to work with the other players so they can all be successful.

RE: Dixon
Dixon was never really known for driving into the lane. He averaged almost 14 ppg in the Big 12 on a 30 win Missouri team. He just needs to pick his spots better. Last night he hit 4 threes. He is more of shooter. He can drive given the right opportunity but his strength is in his shot and being in the right position on the court to make a difference.

I think he only drove a lot tonight because that was the initial game plan. Drive and pound the ball inside to get LSU's bigs into foul trouble. When that didn't work the team did other things. Dixon is going to be a great player for us. Lol 5 games in :).

RE: Dixon
I don't complain about refs, but I think they let too much go tonight when our guards got to the lane and drew contact. That's how they chose to call it and thus it's on the players to adjust, but there will be other times where Dixon will get those calls he didn't get tonight and his aggressiveness will pay off at the line.

And let's not pretend that Dixon hasn't been awesome early on:

Game 1: 15 pts (71%, 50% from 3), 4 reb, 4 steals, 2 assist. - 24 minutes
Game 2: 7 points (10%), 2 steals, 3 reb - 20 minutes
Game 3: 16 points (83%, 100%/3-3 from 3), 3 reb, 3 assist, 1 steal - 21 minutes
Game 4: 16 points (75%, 100/4-4 from 3), 1 ast, 1 steal. - 21 minutes
Game 5: 2 points, 2 ast, 1 reb - 11 minutes.

It going to be rare when all 4 SR guards click on the same night.

At least one is usually going to have a tough game.

This is the advantage of having 4 of them though.

He was aggressive early and had a couple nice drives that he just didn't finish. Usually he would get some foul calls on those. Just not the best game for him, but he's been more good than bad so far.

Of all the things that one could worry about after Ok St, the thing that worried me the most was how much the senior guards forced things, while none of them seemed to be the calming presence you need in those situations. Tonight alleviated those fears. Geron and Dixon forced too much early on. Joe and Chris took the reigns and calmed everyone down. Chris may not be the most explosive play maker Pastner can use to run the offense, but his calm demeanor is very impressive.

I think he is trying too hard to do it by himself. Needs to stay within the offense and take what the defense is giving. He can be good but not when he thinks he is Chris Paul .

That is overstating his body of work thus far.

He just had a rough game.

Thought Dixon deserved a few calls on drives early in the game, but he did force a few shots.

He will be fine.

If you go back and look at his previous games he did the same thing but against weaker competition it worked minus okie st.

RE: Dixon
I think when we play bad teams that we do a lot of one on one stuff and we get away with it because of our taken level. Then when we play good teams and when we fall behind we go back to trying to do it individually. We started to do it tonite like we did against Ok St but in the 2nd half we played team ball. Some of that might be that Josh stayed with his starting 5 a lot and didn't substitute so much. This tough schedule will help us learn to play the right way because it's the only way we can win big games this year.

In his 2 best games (Nicholls and Sienna), 21 of 32 of his points came from beyond the arc. Not sure how this is comparable to the game tonight where he was focused on getting to the rim.

I do fully agree with your thought that he needs to be someone who takes what the defense gives him rather than trying to create.

RE: Dixon
Dixon had a so-so game because LSU has some good players too. Our guards started out trying to get all the way to the rim for a bucket or a foul and mostly came away empty.

BTW I loved Geron’s hard drive & jump-stop-floater late in the game. We needed that. He tried it again and lowered his shoulder, but the thought was nice.

Dixon = selfish…he will never rise because it's all about him right now and he doesn't create or make his teammates better….all he wants to do is pose and take pictures….hope he stays on the bench. His Defense is a fraud
