Crash and Burn for Tulane MBB
Still November and we've already lost at home to Northern Kentucky (91-86 in OT) and Colgate (98-86). As someone said on the Tulane site: "Not Kentucky. Not Western Kentucky. Not Eastern Kentucky. Northern Kentucky."

Our wins came against:
Division II-opponent Cedarville (68-58)
SWAC-member Southern University (79-73)
Loyola-Chicago (65-59)
the renowned New Jersey Inst. of Technology (75-64)

A very long, painful season seems in store. Head Coach Ed Conroy (cousin of the novelist Pat Conroy) is in his 4th year.

Yes, in a small (capacity 3,600) facility that was originally built in 1932, and then in the late 1980s was renovated (mostly) through the generosity of Avron Fogelman, who is well-known to Memphis fans. The facility was called "Fogelman Arena" from 1989-2012, when a new renovation caused it to be renamed the "Devlin Fieldhouse".

RE: Crash and Burn for Tulane MBB
The good news is that Jonathan Stark is putting up senior-like numbers as a freshman (18.7 PPG, 2.5 RPG, 5.6 APG).

I think the team needs a new coaching staff. They'll probably win 15 or so games this year, but this squad isn't prepared for the AAC.

...at least the football team woke up in time.

Did not know that about Fogelman.

If it's any consolation, NKU is a VERY solid program...

It doesn't help that we have 8 true freshman on the roster.

Hopefully you'll see better play later in the year or next season with all the freshman on your roster.

If I have to say something positive about NKU, I'd say I'd take their arena over 40%-50% of the home arenas currently used in the AAC.

Most schools that move up to Division 1 play in old band boxes. The Norse have a pretty nice 9,400 seat arena that opened 5 years ago.

The NKU game must have been weird.

NKU had 19 points in overtime after only scoring 29 in the first half.

19 in a 5 minute span is a 76 point per half pace.

That's not encouraging, sorry.

Could we get a few autographed copies from Pat before Ed rides the trolley out of town?
