Just had a chance to watch. Very narcissistic to me. He recruited Lynch. He built NIU. Broncos only had three DBs tonight. Sorry, my BS meter was going off.

RE: Fleck's Post Game Presser
Everyone can say what they what about Fleck, its great he is mixing it up and adding energy, his tactic are unorthodox, he is in over his head, he is one of the young bright minds in college football. To me , all that is trumped by my genuine concern for his well-being. I think the guy is a candidate for a breakdown. I wish the best for him.

RE: Fleck's Post Game Presser
Have no reason to believe he is "one of the great young minds in football" or he would see what a circus he created with his baloney. He reminds one of a modern day flim flam man a la Charles Ponzi, Elmer Gantry or Kaiser Soze. Seems to be all icing and no cake.

MD may be on to something as was the guy who compared PJ to Charlie Sheen.

I can't look it up right now, but I'd guess that Carey has paid a lot more dues than PJ.
Not really.

Carey:
Wayzata HS (assistant)
Minnesota (GA)
Wisconsin–Stout (co-OC/OL)
Wisconsin–Stout (OC/OL)
Illinois State (OL)
North Dakota (OL)
Northern Illinois (OL)
Northern Illinois (OC/OL)
Northern Illinois

Fleck:
Ohio State (GA)
Northern Illinois (WR)
Rutgers (WR)
Northern Illinois (OC)
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (WR)
Western Michigan

Yeah, Carey was a position coach for a few years longer than Fleck, but at least all of Fleck was either NFL or FBS expierence. They were pretty similar.
You actually included NIU OC for Fleck??? How many years experience for each?

Carey had coordinator experience before becoming a HC, Fleck didn't.

-He loves and respects NIU and credits it for him being where he is today.

-He is using NIU as his model for building the WMU program.

-He apologizes profusely to everyone at NIU for how he came and went.

-He was brutally honest in saying he was looking out for number 1 when he took the NFL job. He wishes he had known that job was still a possibility before he took the NIU job but he didn't. Once it became an option he did what was best for him and his family with the full knowledge that it was awkward. That was the choice he made and he takes responsibility for it.

I'm not sure what else he is supposed to say really. Those remarks sounded pretty candid to me. The dude apologized. And we are doing just fine without him. If you still can't get past that for some reason then know that this too shall pass, and pretty quickly at that. With the way he's recruiting I expect WMU to improve in a hurry and if they do he will be gone, probably after only 3 or 4 years at WMU.

+1....He's right 99 of 100 go to the NFL. I believe he was entirely sincere regard his feelings toward Northern Illinois. I just don't buy his rap, he comes across as immature and not someone I would be confident in steadying the ship.

I gotta say, while I love Carey, no one could have predicted his sudden move from OL coach (which he had been for years) to head coach. Great for him...goes to show why you stay committed for so many years.

Couldn't agree more. I didn't find him sincere at all. A lot of "I" did this and that. If you noticed he didn't give any credit to Carey. In fact, he took credit for NIU's success. Yes he recruited JL but what impact did he have in JL's development?
Really think this guy's head is screwed on wrong. Not impressed at all.

In all reality, I hope PJ spends some long quality time with Coach Novak and his high school coach Joe Thorgeson from Kaneland. I hope he listens to their sugestions. I also hope he gets some help for the stress he is under and doesn't have a breakdown.

Watching him during the game last night, he didn't look like a leader. I'm sure he's smart. I'm sure he can say the right things. I don't see him as a leader though.

What caught me off-guard was the number of situations (mostly on 3rd and short) in which he either couldn't decide on a play or couldn't get one in - and had to call timeout. He just didn't seem very organized. Which could very much be attributed to the fact that he never took a coordinator job anywhere (well, for more than 1 day) and went straight from position coach to head coach.

Honestly, he looks like a guy in his first year of being the man in charge.

We could have used those timeouts at the end of the half. The good coaches guard those things like children.
