I was there and I assure you the wind was catching passes and kicks and throwing them 5 to 10 yards off their trajectory. It was basically impossible to throw it without major risk of a turnover w each attempt.

Well they had the wind at his back in the 1st and 4th and he didnt pass in the 4th.

I believe he was 4/9 with wind at his back which still isn't good. But he threw a TD

Several wind at back passes just sailed. Wind was intermittent, unpredictable, such that risking a turnover to pad stats made no sense when ground game was working just fine for Lynch.

Yes I'm spoiled by how good our offense looked last three weeks, running and passing. Sorry.

unbelievable that our undefeated (as of yet) season is not really appreciated by our own fans...wasn't that long ago that the tables were flipped and we lost 23 in a row!

At least Fresno will very likely get a better Bowl game then us.
Never thought that a BCS Bowl would determine a successful year for NIU.
Unless NIU and the apathetic MAC conference lobbies pollsters, Fresno and maybe UCF might move ahead of us.

yep, i wouldn't be surprised at all if this was the end result.

The MAC bowl tie ins are awful.
Regarding Heisman: Ben Roethlisburger came 9th.
Boers/Bernstein say a MAC player should never be compared to an SEC player.
Maybe I have become spoilt, but a 12-0 team has no business playing an unranked 8-4 team from a much weaker conference.

yeah, but if this is the result, we still need to handle business. otherwise the 'i told you so' people will pour out of the woodwork.

They must have missed the fact numerous MAC players make the nfl or the fact sec rosters are littered with way more talent.

Yes, they go against better competition, but they have stellar athletes around them. NIU doesn't have that luxury.

Agreed...the whole thing stinks that we are either criticized and end up playing a top 5 team in a BCS Bowl or we play Middle Tennesse/Western Kentucky/Troy in some awful bowl in an unsuccessful city.

What a great season! Excited as hell. For those saying our pass game was bad...that was the worst weather I have been to at an NIU game in 10 years. I have been through wind, rain, fog, but never that cold with that wind. Wow I am still thawing....

Maybe it is time for NIU to leave the MAC, unless we get descent bowl opponents.
Win or lose in Detroit, its a BCS team or a pathetic unranked 4 loss Sunbelt team who lost to 3-7 Memphis tigers of the AAC.
#2 in the MWC plays a 7-4 PAC team.
MAC has by far the worst Bowl tie ins.
