FAU clearly trying to get out of paying some money. Also, I thought Pelini resigned himself? Now they are saying they terminated him...

No way does Pelini get that position back. It's going to be a PR nightmare if FAU hires a new coach before this is resolved and somehow, Pelini wins his case. Something like this happened before with a coach that had gotten fired, but won the lawsuit to get his job back, but the school in question hired somebody new. Damn, wish I could remember who that was. The name Newheisel comes to mind, for some reason.

Looks like the interim coach is doing pretty good.

Exactly! Hell, they're one win away from being bowl eligible, and their last regular season game's at home against conference doormat FIU. How lucky can a team get?

It's a termination for cause which tells me the school is quite comfortable letting him do whatever he wants legally. He needs to move on that ship has sailed

RE: FAU letter explains Pelini's ouster
So Pelini is in trouble because he didn't report the illegal activity of a staff member. Isn't that essentially the same problem that got Paterno terminated? Of course, there is nothing new about an executive falling from grace due to a "staff infection" - it happened to President Nixon in 1974 as well.
