Kay named AAC offensive Player of Week

UC quarterback Brendon Kay on Monday was named American Athletic Conference football Player of the Week, after leading UC to a 24-17 win at Houston.
Kay was 29-for-50 passing for 386 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, and he also rushed for 38 yards and a TD. It was Kay’s fourth 300-yard passing game of the year, and he ranks No. 3 nationally in completion percentage (.703).

Silverberry Mouhon was named to the AAC weekly honor roll. Mouhon vs. Houston had six tackles, including two sacks and 2.5 tackles for loss, with a forced fumble.

– UC (9-2, 6-1 AAC) rose to No. 25 in the USA Today coaches’ poll on Sunday. The Bearcats were No. 27 last week. UC also advanced to No. 27 in the Associated Press media poll (had been tied for 30th) and is 28th in the BCS standings.
– UC ranks No. 9 nationally in total defense, No. 19 in total offense.
– The Bearcats will take a six-game winning streak into their next game against rival Louisville (10-1, 6-1 AAC) on Thursday, Dec. 5 at Nippert Stadium (7:30 p.m. on ESPN). Louisville is No. 16 AP, No. 21 USA Today and No. 20 in the BCS.

Whit Babcock said that fewer than 1,000 tickets remain for the Louisville game.
– With UC off Saturday, Tuberville will attend the annual Auburn-Alabama Iron Bowl game. It will be Tuberville’s first trip back to Auburn since he left in 2008. Tuberville’s son Tucker is a walk-on QB at Auburn.
“I look forward to seeing some old friends. I’ll try to stay out of the way,” Tuberville said. “I look forward to going as a father.”
