I see nothing wrong with the graphic the conference put out. If they made up the numbers.. than I would have a problem.

The image of USF is not relative to a ranking or achievement in any way. You're comparing apples and oranges.

The graphic is called marketing savvy. Something I'm glad our team is a part of. Every other conference will try to tear us and each other down, it is our responsibility to pump it up. Putting our name atop of the 3 team ranked conferences may be the only exposure some clueless reporter hack has that we have three ranked teams. You have to generate the buzz. You can not expect those who report to figure it out on their own, because they wont.

"Mid-major" is a basketball term but going forward it does fit all the G5 conferences with regards to football. It denotes tweener-conferences, those not in the big boy club, but also not down with the MEAC, SWAC, and other bottom-level conferences either.

Actually, there are a few more levels to it than that. lmao. But, now that quo says we can use that term "going forward", who's to argue? I'm sure the memo is in transit.

I have to agree what is the conference thinking putting out something to make us look good. What morons everybody knows our conference is a joke.

But on a serious note people seeing there are 3 teams in the top 25 no matter where they are ranked makes our conference look less week than originally thought in terms of SOS. Could help ucf move up as we end the season since our conference has 3 quality teams instead of 1 like at the beginning of the season. Ucf is getting shafted in the coaches poll they have only lost 1 game to a top 15 team.

Exactly how I feel about it. WE (the AAC - before some moron comments, yes I know ECU is in Cusa this year, thanks for reminding me) have to tell the casual fan "hey, look at us, 3 teams in the T25!" Why? No one else will. ESPN isn't going to do it, other media outlets aren't going to do it, WE have to do it.

If we want anyone to know about it, we have to promote it ourselves. Lots of casual fans (from multiple fanbases) still ask me "hey isn't ECU going to the Big East next year?" I say "No the AAC"..... "The ACC? I haven't hear that." .... "No, The American, it's a collection of ole BE football schools and some very good CUSA schools".... "Oh okay, cool."


Things like this graphic grab attention. "The American? Who? Let me google those teams.... Oh Cincy, I know them, UCF.. they beat PSU and UL.. I saw them play USC close...pretty good conference." - how it should work in theory...

Anyway that's all I got... we need to promote the crap out of ourselves, and win OOC. To those who said this conference will never be at the level of the P5... well.. it can, if we win our OOC games and play well. We have the means to do it.

As long as we end the year with a couple of ranked teams..i don't mind.

We got an OKay league in our hands...maybe not much brand power but USF, MEM, ECU are gonna be strong next year...

Here's to hoping for everyone to be ranked by years end!

I agree with these 2 comments. They are just numbers that don't really define strength of conferences, but they do put our conference in a positive light.

However, it's possible that I've been exposed to jonesing's manipulative stats too long and whatever thought process he has is contagious.

Anyone who wants to rank a conference with a lone representative superior to one with 3 members ranked in the top 25 is crazy!

The MAC and MW have cream puffs atop VERY week conference slates. Fresno's best win was in overtime by 1 over Rutgers, who is currently 5-5 and 6th in the American. NIU's signature game is a 3-point win against Iowa, 6th best in the B1G. Both of those games came in week one!

It makes perfect sense. That infographic created to pump up the American is trying to make it look like we are the 3rd best conference based on number of teams in the coaches poll. When really we are one of the worst conference if you look at where those teams are actually ranked in the coaches poll.

Sure, it's a PR graphic, but why does this get you worked up into such a lather? The Big Ten, among other conferences, have been able to coast on reputation for years. Why is it so offensive to have someone put a positive spin on our league for once?
