I don't think Beatty would be bad.

but I want to see who else is out there that we could get first. I wouldn't rush into hiring Beatty.

RE: Potential HC Candidates...
I would at least give Dave Clausen a call. I know he is coaching a I-A program currently, but if we are moving up, I got to think it's not completely crazy to think about.

I would also suggest looking at UNH's coach. He's older, but his offense with a good defensive hire would be good as well.

Now, everyone can start tearing into me for my suggestions.

I agree with this. I would have to assume that the new JMU coach would know what JMU's intention for FBS will be. I honestly think JMU would have announce by the next JMU game.

Stinespring has been demoted at VT, and was never a good OC anyway. Never been an HC either.

We can do 10 times better. We need to have a guy with HC experience....you can't afford to swing and miss on this hire.

Clausen is going to take UVA's job... I'd take that to the bank.

Like both, but Clawson has more of a change of leaving than Mcdonnell.

UVA isn't firing London. Not yet, anyway.

I remember that he was crazy successful at Landstown. I was thinking there was some sort of baggage from his time at Hampton. But I might be misremembering.

Agreed, he will, however, be let go next year. Clausen will take the London's job... You can take that to the bank!

What was Ocain's record as a HC? Didn't he lead NC State to some bowls, and didn't he recruit the Glennon who is qb for the bucs? Would they give him a look?

Best HC I have seen in a long time.

I remember something about this too - especially in connection with his recruiting while at WVU

O'Cain left NCSU 15 years ago. He recruited Rivers, not Glennon.

He has now been fired from every job he has had in college coaching.

The oddest part, London took over Clausen's job at Richmond... Clausen would then take London's job at UVA (I'm 99% sure it would happen). UVA is a dream job... Great pay with less than average expectations.

He was HC at NC State while Rivers was there - not sure if he recruited him

I don't blame O'Cain for this year. He had little time to prepare and given Mickey's track record for meddling in the offense, I doubt he had any control.

Truth. This is possibly the most important hire (timing-wise) in JMU football history. Landing and investing in a fantastic coach could be the difference between JMU being a Boise or a WKU.

Great first move in getting rid of Mickey 2 days after our season is over. Next up will be to get an incredible coach and announce our new conference. After this move, my hopes are getting raised.
