"The Next Boise"
We've heard this used by every mid major fanbase throughout the country for years now. How many BCS games did Boise make it to? I think it was 3, right? Well if NIU can make it to another BCS game this year, that puts them in the realm of Boise, imo. Will NIU be considered the next Boise?

You're wrong...Boise is the Ohio of the MWC. Ohio is the SEC of North America.

Two ... the thing is, they won both ~ they beat the Sooners by 1 in 2007, 43-42, and TCU by 7 in 2010.

If NIU is a BCS Buster this year and wins, then their BCS record at 1-1 will be right in there with some "name brand" schools during the BCS era ~ Nebraska, UTK & Penn State (though their win was vacated).

We need to make it and win!

It's not enough to just go there. Winning a BCS bowl will do wonders.

NIU has no strength of schedule, they don't play any quality programs, and when they play a quality program, like last year's bowl game... they get BLOWN OUT!

I'm sorry, but you can't be the next Boise State, if you don't play/schedule up and still win!

Boise is #55 right now, lets hope NIU doesn't follow that template exactly.

(1) Boise won a BCS bowl and (2) Boise sustaned that level of success for a good decade.

Please stop with the "next boise comments". I respect NIU fans so much for not pulling that lame card out so please don't start now.

Boise isn't even boise anymore no outright MWC championships .

The WAC is no longer a football conference so dominating it means less .

To truly become Boise you have to become a junior College .
Max out your available bonding for stadium expansion you have to be all in for football .

This post makes no sense...1) Boise just joined the MWC, so commenting that they haven't won the MWC outright -HUH? Can we give it some time? The fact that they came in immediately and a won a share of the title speaks volumes about the conference and 2) what is a "junior" college and how does Boise qualify for that definition?

That guy is just a jealous Idaho fan who is upset that Boise has accomplished more in a decade than the Vandals have in 50 years. Also, the Vandals will soon be FCS. Have fun with the UC-Whatevers.

Plus the Kibby Dome is probably the worst football venue I've ever seen. Maybe they should paint the field a different color to spice things up.

RE: "The Next Boise"
To be fair, Idaho was a football power in the Big Sky for many years until the new millenia. I think they moved up just to keep up with Boise State, and at the time they were good enough of a program that they could make it in the WAC. In hindsight, they should've stayed in the Big Sky, and that's probably where their football will end up in a few years. I don't see why the Belt took them besides keeping their numbers up.

Also, from what I've seen, the Kibbie Dome is a lot nicer after they completed some renovations recently, though it still looks like a can of soup half-buried in the ground.
