RE: BCS Standings
UCF came darn close to beating South Carolina- a top 10 team.
NIU played Iowa, Purdue, Idaho, and E Illinois
UCF played S Carolina, Penn St, Arkon, and FIU.
S Carolina way better than Iowa- yes, losing by 3 to South Carolina way more impressive than beating Iowa by 3.
Penn St way better than Purdue(45-21 head to head)
Arkon way better than Idaho
FIU better than FCS team

If Alabama, FSU, and Ohio St all win out- but Winston gets suspended before the ACC title game and they look sluggish vs Duke as a Result- will voters flip their votes to Ohio St?
right now- computers-
FSU 1.25 (remaining schedule avg cpu rating of 47.88)
Ala 1.75 (remaining schedule avg cpu rating of 5.50- assuming Missouri)
Ohio St 3.00 (remaining schedule avg cpu rating of 26.88)
I think we all expect Alabama to pass FSU in the computers- just too huge a gap in the remaining schedule. The question for me is could Ohio St pass Florida St in the computers- making the polls wouldn't necessarily have to have Ohio St pass FSU- just get close enough.
1. Duke has to beat UNC to make the title game - not a given
2. If Duke loses, VT goes to Charlotte
3. FSU without Winston will still crush Duke or VT, VT can barely score as it now, and Duke gave up 59 to Pitt.
Depends on which Logan Thomas shows up. VT is the most jeckyl and hyde team in the country.

You compare wins with other wins, not with losses. Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. South Carolina was playing worse earlier in the season anyway. They only beat Kentucky by 7 the week after beating UCF.
1-10 FIU is NOT better than E Illinois. EIU is ranked #2 in FCS and beat San Diego State (the #2 team in the Mountain West) by 21 points. EIU is probably a top 45-50 team.

think a lot of football folks would disagree with you. If Iowa played South Carolina- I think South Carolina would be favored by at least 10 points- if not more.

The better team usually finds a way to win and its not always impressive. So good losses don't mean anything without some good wins.

ND wanted those games with the ACC, too. That wasn't some type of payment or one way concession fo those ACC bowl tie ins.

I have no idea why.

Because it makes total sense. Notre Dame wants to be in an East Coast conference. The Big East was falling a part and they needed somewhere for all of their sports to have a home and for their football team to have bowl games. Of course the ACC wasn't going to allow a partial member without concessions. 5 games is good enough for now. Eventually, when ND feels like they want to join a conference it will be the ACC. Both sides win.
