I like the ECU logo and nickname. The nickname is very historical and lends a touch of colonial history to big time CFB after the Ivies bowed out.

Of course, my opinion may be bias. I am a Pittsburgh Pirates fan and purple is my favorite color.

Actually, my high school in PA had the same colors and used the Marauders moniker. We used the ECU Pirate for our banners outside.

Folks, we are not changing our colors or name. This is just making the graphics look better and implementing some new touches to the logos

I think the current colors and logos are pretty cool... and I have no issue with names like East Carolina, Central Florida, or South Florida. I people aren't smart enough to know where these pretty big schools are, to heck with 'em...

I'm just happy our schools don't put the "ern" on the end of the first word....even though the media likes to on occasion. That alone makes it sound better.

I don't mind it either. I think we may see a rebranding in name to go with something like TCU, UCF, USF(?) does... just use the letters instead of the full name.

I'm not extremely fond of seeing E. Carolina on the screen, I'd rather East Carolina.. so it sticks in peoples heads that it isn't Eastern. ECU would be fine too, but then you still have the confused journalists.

That being said - I bet you could change the look of the "ECU" block letters logo. That looks a bit out of date. But never change the colors or the jolly roger. Never.

Changing the colors and name would require consent from the SGA. That ain't happening.

We have a great mascot and color scheme they just have used it so bad over the years. This is one of the things our new ad has worked on since he got here last year and I think it will turn out well. The baseball jerseys/logos have always looked good not sure why everything else has looked so bad.

I too would go with "Carolina Pirates". I just hate the directional thing. I guess the current name is better than the "East North Carolina Pirates" though.....

I think ECU's logo looks fine. But to improve it, maybe more animated and cartoon like.

There are some pretty crazy comments in this thread. As someone else said, many of the new members went through some tweaking when they moved to the AAC, but nothing as drastic as some of the ideas here.

I have no idea what the powers-to-be are up to. But I seriously hope they retire that old Pirate Head logo and place more emphasis upon using the letters ECU when marketing our school.
