Yes this is unbelieveable. It is dirty at this level when it comes to "lesser" teams having a chance to beat a "greater" team. Sucks because it takes the specialness out of sport and makes it corrupt like everything else.

I remember Louisville getting extrememly lucky with a blown call in the 90's that cost us a game.

At the SMU game, I sat with a large crowd - mostly family of one of the players - of SMU fans. The ladies behind me were both very knowledgeable (disagreed with the "forward progress" call) and extremely critical of the AAC refs. They both said they had blown calls against SMU in earlier games and hated these refs more than C-USA refs.

This isn't just a conspiracy against Memphis, but just REALLY bad refs apparently. Memphis has just gotten more bad calls this year than any I can ever remember.

And just for the record, I think Ball was blocked into the punter. If the blocker makes contact with the defender which contributes to his hitting the punter, no penalty should be called. Much like if a returner calls fair catch and a blocker knocks the defender into the returner. It is a judgement call, but very easily could (and in my opinion, should) have been waved off and no penalty called.

Is it acceptable performance for them to make and review and uphold calls that cost us significantly in close games, or is it ok to criticize them for getting it wrong?

Maybe they are proud "BigEast" guys and are sticking it to us uppity newcomers who ruined their conference. Or maybe they are arrogant yankees and cheat the Southern schools.
