03-lmfao Exactly. I was there. We sucked, big time. Of course, I mean the team, not the fan base. The only public ways to vent back then were at the game, or in the Editorial pages of the CA, which was extremely limited, of course.

Social media has changed the game, of course, but it's an issue for everybody, not just us. The coaches and players just have to figure out how to deal with it.

Agree. This fan base isn't any worse than any fan base at any school in either major revenue sport, football or basketball. I follow Georgia b/c I have lived here so long, and their boards, when something goes wrong in football, are 10 times worse than this place on its worst day.

For that reason, I don't think fan bases have a damn thing to do with anything. They are all crazy.

You are exactly right.

Thing is, when we struggle and fingers start getting pointed at coaching as the problem, we have folks who want to blame everyone else to take the heat off the coach. Blame the fans, refs, AD, players, the weather......ANYTHING BUT THE COACH! The guy that makes 2.65 million per year to oversee the entire operation can't possibly be the problem, can he?

Any player that would let the rumblings of fans get into his head should not be playing major college basketball. He should, instead, move in with Jonathan Martin at Jonathan's mama's house.

That's every large fan base dude...it should be the coaches jobs to help prepare the kids mentally for this kind of spotlight.

Quote:You are exactly right.

I don't think he is "exactly" right. The world isn't black and white - there are shades in between. Fans who have the "support them when they deserve it" attitude can negatively affect recruiting. I dare say that most 19 year-old recruiting prospects are favorably impressed by large crowds and negatively impressed by small ones. Also, public negativity can be detrimental to team morale and cohesiveness.

Once again, the world isn't black and white. It is just as shallow-minded to put ALL the blame on a coach as it is to say he is blameless. Pastner will readily admit that losses are partially his responsibility. I refute the notion that they are entirely his fault or that our fanbase has no responsibility.

I agree. Whenever we have a strong contingent fans that complain about the complainers the play of the basketball team trends downward.

You guys are full of ****. Do we just roll the ball out and tell the guys to go play with no offensive gameplay? Do we refuse to hire a coach who can help coach offense? Are we the ones hanging our heads on the court after poor play? Calling ourselves kings? Missing team busses? Losing big games? I don't think so. When you make $2.6 mil per year and have high level recruits you are expected to win. That's the bottom line. I've give josh into his 5th season to really begin judging him. It's time to **** to get off the pot. Excuses work for a year or two but were in year 5. It's very reasonable to expect more and hopefully we see the team improve throughout the year. I haven't given up but the people still acting like josh hasn't underperformed still have their heads in the sand.

Oh and the same crazy ass people that care deeply about this program are the reason we are able to have nice things and expensive coaches. Go cheer for Rice if you want a bunch of people that don't care

You are correct- and team members have told me as much.

But remember, the bashers will only use that to bash some more- arguing the kids should ignore the malice and just play.

The level of malice and mocking of our own stuns them. They expect fan disappointment- but they do not expect fans to mock what they claim to support.

3-2-1 before just beat a ranked team gets chimed in...because as we know, not mocking colleeg kids means being pleased with being short of elite so far.

Our goal in life Mimi is to Bash our BB program so we can hear your endless droning narrative that the entire human race is out to get our coach, the poor helpless players, the ungrateful fanbase who fund this F'r, and their starving parents.

The Horror! 03-weeping

Maybe we're just sick of looking like a joke on National TV.

Check this out from another site. Nice to hear another unbiased point of view like yours.

Man they ripped on CJP in that forum saying he is one of the worst coaches they have ever seen and that all he can do is recruit..Talented players with no direction and they all were ripping Dixon..oh well I've always said myself that CJP, and I like the guy, doesn't run plays its just guards dribbling around with no one else doing anything except stand around..they do run a high pick but that's all I've seen
