(11-23-2013 08:07 AM)TripleA Wrote:  Where did anyone get the idea that if you support a program, you can't complain about it? I've been supporting the Tigers since 1952, and I sure as hell complained about Moe Iba, Wayne Yates, Charles Cavagnaro, Tic Price, Tommy West, Larry Porter and R.C. Johnson, among others. The program survived it.

I don't agree with those who are calling for Josh to be fired, but they have a right to express their opinions, just like anyone else. If people didn't care, they wouldn't complain. And in this age of social media, you better have thick skin.

Just not sure why each side cannot have an OPINION without denigrating the other side. Neither one is right or wrong. They are only OPINIONS, and they are just DIFFERENT.

Heck, a lot of people who are complaining about all the griping now are the same folks who were up in arms last year about Bowen messing with Madness, basketball and football scheduling, etc. Why is that okay to complain about, and this is not?

And therein lies the conundrum of message boards---so it seems.

If more of us would simply avoid threads [and posters] that do not appeal to us, we might have a bit less hostility.

"womens rights"

lol

Thats a laugh.

Womens rights use to be about REAL human rights issues like being able to vote and drive or even speak in public.

Now its about unfettered on demand abortions paid by the taxpayer and government funded birth control.

Oh yea, and government funded secret abortions for 12 years olds without telling their parents.

Let this man run this program. If he fails, he fails. Then there will be a search for a new coach. If he succeeds, some will find something else to complain about.

Nobody is being forced to watch the games, attend the games, give donations to the program. If you don't like want is going on, just don't participate.

I wish Josh the best and feel that he will do the job to the best of his abilities. That is all we can ask.

Ding ding ding we have a new winner in the most asinine thread title of all times.

What the man is saying is ... Then DO NOT donate 20K a year. Go, Leave, spend your bucks on something else. I gave up 2 lower bowl seats after last season because college sports (especially basketball) has become something I don't recognize. My life is still very full - I follow the Tigers, enjoy the games when I want to see them and hang aroung this board. Still making all the FB games and loving the apparent tunr around that's happening.

It's really not that difficult to just cut it loose. 04-cheers

Crying about all the fouling last year...they changed the rule for him, but yet he still quit the team.

A very oversimplified translation of what I've said about the evolution of the game in the 5 years I've been on this forum. Of course, elementary oversimplification of facts is a watchword for several on here so that's to be expected.

PS: Did kind of pizz me off when they announced the rule interpretation changes AFTER I let the seats go ... 03-lmfao

But that's OK - God has blessed me with the capacity to see any game anywhere in the country if I choose to go. 04-cheers

Just curious, why is college hoops becoming something u don't recognize?

The influx of huge TV money and overexposure of college sports has brought "ratings" and politics based on perception and market share/conference/network cashflow much more into the game. Games were/are being called to satisfy desired outcomes much more than actual effort on the floor. We've all seen it still has it's effect in some football games this year ... some have even begun to mention it on this board and on the call-in post game shows (which the hosts did not deny existed), by the way.

It happened to me as an offcial several years ago in an incident which I explained on here and I've watched the games with a different perspective ever since. Great example: I pretty much decided I was done with college sports as anyting other than a diversion (akin to a trip to an amuzement park), after the first 7 minutes of the 2nd half of UM/Louisville last year.

Thanks for asking. 04-cheers

Exactly, Bill.

As an extreme example not related to basketball, do any of us really think that the new football rules for "targeting" to help reduce concussions would have been implemented if there hadn't been discussions and threats of lawsuits against equipment manufacturers and universities for long term effects of hits to the head?
