It is close.
Tic Price went 30-27 in two seasons, with no conference titles, no conference tournament titles, no NCAA bids and losses to the likes of Tulane...a lot. He also brought disgrace to the university with his activities.
Pastner has gone 107-35 in four plus 2 games seasons. He has three conference tourney titles, two conference titles, three NCAA bids with a NCAA win last year. He has brought respect back to the university. His biggest sin is that a program that many thought would drop like a rock to nothingness in the wake of Narcissist's departure, has maintained being really good but has been to date- short of great- evidenced by winning most games but falling short againt top tier competition.
Yes- they are about the same.
Let alone that -the crybabies declarations notwithstanding- we very well may have a great season this year. Last I checked- there are a lot of games left.
We get the sentiment- gee mimi they have shown nothing to indicate they will win half of the top tier games they play- but if they do- what happens??
The jumper off mock Memphis kid crowd will moan about the losses anyway.
Some will declare that is what we were supposed to do and suddenly be back supporting the very thing they wailed on about as being awful.
Your pick.
Tic Price.
Good one.
A true comparison in terms of Memphis- is indeed Narcissist's first 5 seasons- and in season 5 many wanted him out on a rail. Does this mean sit back and not be disappinted if this year turns into a NCAA bubble season? No. But it seems to mean many of you have the self-esteem of a douche.
You are right (maybe I exaggerated), and on the loss side, Tic had a lot more losses, but if you want to look at big wins or NCAA wins, Pastner has outdone Tic by a St Mary's game at the buzzer.
Pastner has not earned his money. Pastner has not given me any reason to believe he is capable of coaching a top college basketball program and Pastner's little positivity routine is wearing thin. I want to see some coaching, I saw none last night.

I completely disagree with that idea. No coaching change mid-season. Let it play out. We'll either sink or swim. Josh will get us to figure it out, or he won't. Plenty of chances at redemption, for the first time. But dumping him in the middle of the season is not going to help anything.
Absolutely right TripleA. Not only would our new recruits defect but the morale would be completely decimated. Any true MEMPHIS TIGER BASKETBALL FAN would not scream for a coaching change on the second game of the season. I kept in the back of MY mind that this was a very good team with a first team All American and there was a chance our players could not match up with him. He was as strong as any player we have going to the goal, including Shaq and Woodson.
Seriously who cares if our 3juccos and one 4* wants to delflect. There is no excuse for getting blown out again on national tv. I don't care what the circumstances were this team is supposed to be good. If you cant at least compete with a team that is so much better than you then you don't deserve to be in the gym. Hell ECU almost beat Duke. And I bet their fans have the upmost respect for their team. But after 5 yrs you can't expect the fans to give you tge benefit of a doubt anymore.
Marcus Smart almost had 30 in the first half and you know what josh did to slow him down? Absolutely nothing he should have realized if G couldn't stop him then you double team him or just plain deny him the ball. Its not rocket science I used to blame the players for losing the championship game against Kansas. But in actuality if Cal had told them not to let anyone shoot a three by any means we would have a NC. Sometimes the coach has to step in and get every one on track. Our problem is coaching
