Do I want to play a CUSA schedule where I am rarely on TV playing in 3/4 empty arenas and at the end of a season, I am hoping my team will be the only team chosen for the NCAA out of the conference.
Do I want to play a Big 10 schedule where almost every game is televised and I play before packed stadiums on my own conference TV network. At the end of the season, my chances of being in the NCAA tournament is stronger because multiple teams are in the NCAA tournament, increasing my exposure and chances to make the NBA.
I hope we get every player we want, but to not understand why he might choose a big 10 school over a CUSA school is pretty easy to understand
I agree that it is probably a critical decision-shaping factor that the Big 10 has its own national cable TV network package assuring a greater national TV exposure than any C-USA team could offer. Also, Indiana is a basketball-mad state in the same sense that Alabama is a football-mad state so a lot of people will see Purdue play ball. It is not unknown for a top senior (high school) athlete in IN (or in KY) to pass up playing football to concentrate on his basketball skills.
