RE: UNC game
That was rough. I hate that we took five minutes off lol... UNC was too much for us. I wish we had played a team like NC State or UVa today.

Might have beaten UVA.

But man that 5 minutes and the knee stings.

RE: UNC game
That was the first time I had ever heard of explicitly shortening the game. I know FIU got the running clock against Louisville, but at least they played out the full regulation time. This game is going to make the next Sportscenter for all the wrong reasons.

Definitely will be interesting to see how the team responds next season. Going to be a long off-season to try and get beyond this.

Overall, this was a fun season.

What he said.

Try to keep our recruits and stop accepting 60-50 comeback wins over 1AA teams.

From twitter:

Fedora said 10-minute 4Q was ODU coach's idea and he agreed. "We're about winning with class and not trying to embarrass anybody"
ODU coach Bobby Wilder said 10-min 4Q was in "best interest of my team". "Most difficult thing I've done in 26 years of coaching"
ODU coach: "There certainly wasn't anything good that was going to come from the score getting any more lopsided."

RE: UNC game
And does the five minutes really make THAT much of a difference? I'd rather just play the damn thing to its natural conclusion and let the refs shave a few seconds at the end of plays.

I believe in our team and I believe in our coaches but for the love of God please recruit some defensive players that can tackle!

Looks like I picked the right day to go hunting. What happened? From the recap, it looks like we were OK in the first quarter.

RE: UNC game
I cannot believe what I saw today. Our defense allowed every receiver to get behind us.
Our special teams were horrible.
We need to look for a number of Jaco transfers for the D.
We also need to find a punter.
A lose like this could have major effect on current recruits
THe coaches are going to need to work hard and hold on to what we already have
As commits.
Do think UNC left starters in a little longer then would have thought.
That Freshman number 3 for UNC is a hell of a player. But did show a little attitude

Things were pretty good overall for the first quarter but taylor wasn't able to pass and didn't run much and after that pretty much all hell broke loose and our defense crumbled.

RE: UNC game
Was at the game today and yes it was hard to watch. Yes it stings bad.........real bad........However, I would like to say a few positives......Thank you to all the members of Monarch Nation that came to the game today. Good showing by our fans. Also....thanks to the many fans that stayed until the very end.

Now just real briefly to the game.....I've never seen a team give up like this. I don't what hear that UNC is higher up the talent scale than we are, because they aren't that far ahead of us. Remember they got schooled by ECU. We came in scared and timid. Then once we got down.........we gave up. Receivers stopped running routes, defense stopped even trying to tackle. Is it embarrassing? Yes. Does it set us back a bit? Yep. However I hope it becomes a learning experience and a rallying moment for this team to never play like that again moving forward.

Future is still bright for ODU.

RE: UNC game
Our defense good golly. This game was way to big for them. We need to RECRUIT DEFENSIVE players. A 180lb little boy can't stop a 250lb man. To much room in the lanes. Nagy had better do something quick. And phone calls or whatever is allowed to possible recruits should be done this week.

I hope the entire football team feels this one til the end of next season. I think the media hype and attention didn't help the nerves. Coach has to coach that too during offseason. They need to figure out a way to keep th mind in the game.and defense needs the same training. When something bad happens they wait for someone to step up. They all have to do this. Our baskketball team has just started doing. You can't look for leadership at a time of confusion. it has to be there. That is one thing I don't agree with on the coaching side. Our more senior guys need to lead and freshmen follow.

I believe we will be okay. But for golly sake please go recruit some mountains. We need size. Spoken like a true girl

RE: UNC game
I think I'll spare myself the replay. However, we've been regressing quite a bit since the Pitt game. I would point out that our last few FCS games were less than stellar (we were lucky to beat Norfolk State). It's tempting to write those off as uninspired efforts against inferior opponents in a lame duck season, and that may well be the case. It appears that it is much more difficult to suddenly hit the switch and start playing FBS caliber football when you have a quality opponent.

The worst part for these guys is that there is no "next week" to redeem themselves. They will have to chew on this one until next September. Next year, we have one FCS opponent, so we better be ready from day one.
