SI: Jordan Lynch shines as Northern Illinois continues BCS push
Northern Illinois' BCS future would look a lot less clear had Lynch not decided to turn Wednesday night's game into a personal Heisman showcase.....But the statistics don't tell the whole story. Lynch reminded everyone who wasn't paying attention that he remains one of the most electric players in college football.

That was after 1 game. He still has (possibly) 3 more weeknight games left.

That's why we play the midweek games. Yes the attendance was low but the exposure has been amazing.

WOW! National media now recognizes that NIU is a traditional rival with the Rockets. Need to paste this article on the Toledo board.

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For all the bitching we do about having to play weeknight MACtion games every November imagine if the Sun Belt had the catchy moniker (SUNtion?) instead of the MAC and its teams and players were getting the national attention that NIU and Lynch have this week. We would be wanting some of that. I bet the Belt would give their collective left **** for it.

I'm okay with one weekday home game and away game per season. Especially when it is big conference games that have a lot on the line, it brings a lot of good attention.

It's only because we're undefeated and were playing a team with a good record. All the other years, for multiple games each year (except the MACtion game against Toledo in 2011) the games are pretty much ho-hum nationally in terms of exposure.

Hard to argue with what this weeknight game meant to NIU. It has provided value during this BCS I would imagine. I think it hurts almost every other year though. But heck if it helps to put NIU over the top of Fresno, maybe one year of positive outweighs 10 years of negative if you make it to another BCS game. It sure will be interesting to see what kind of kick NIU gets in the polls, it will be pretty obvious from that if the voters will even allow NIU the opportunity to pass Fresno up. Im really starting to feel like NIU wont be left out if they run the table, beating Toledo right now though, man that's a tough task to ask for especially coming off the most emotional game of the year.

Yeah and the Toledo 63-60 game really hurt a couple years ago.

I look at this way..without the midweek games it is likely that some of these recruits NIU has had the last 4-5 years would not be here right now.

As an aside..My Dad wore a NIU golf shirt while in New Orleans during Halloween...he told me he was stopped no less than 4 times by people who wanted to talk about NIU.
