Maybe the coaching equipment doesn't work on the west side anymore.

(I know there is a rule that handles this)

#659 on the list of things that wouldn't happen in our own stadium. Perhaps we should always be the "Visitors" since Legion Field isn't ours.

The visitors do seem to win a lot.

RE: UAB Asking Fans to Sit on East Side of Legion Field
I'll take credit for moving the home side to the east side. Here's my post on 9/8/2009. You're welcome.

"I have advocated for years that the home side be moved to the other side of the stadium. As far as I can tell, the only reason the home side is on the press box side is because, well, that's where the press box is. Where's the law that says the home side must be on the press box side? Don't forget that there are recruits watching our games on TV. There's no way for them to know that there's 15,000-25,000 in the stadium that they can't see. To them, it looks like the stadium is practically empty. Our program already has an attendance image problem. Why continue to perpetuate it when there's a simple solution? Perception is reality, and the perception among everyone who's flipping through the channels and sees our game on TV is that there are about 500 people in attendance. For example, the Southern Miss game will be on a national TV network. How's it going to look when they have as many fans visible on TV as we do?

To anyone from the athletic department reading this board, PLEASE consider moving the home side starting next season. "

If we could move the sun too, that would be great.

I've seen this suggestion made multiple times on this board. Now that it's being done, it's a stupid idea that should never happen

UAB Football is getting dangerously close to rock bottom. This is beyond embarrassing, but not nearly as embarrassing as our output on the field has been for the last few years.

This move should have been made years ago.

We have heard the reasoning for the temporary move, let's take them for their word right now & see how it goes.

The only downside that I can see is that our coaches will now have to stare into the setting sun.

Usually isn't a problem for the opposing coaches

This was beyond embarrassing on National TV http://30fps.mocksession.com/wp-content/...20-5-3.jpg. I still see it brought up by random teams and fans when discussing UAB football.

Is this a metaphor for the overall status of the UAB football program?

RE: UAB Asking Fans to Sit on East Side of Legion Field
I understand the reasoning, but how it will work in actuality is questionable.
What if I have a reserved seat I'm particularly found of?
It's a longer walk from parking and the main entrance, so flow of foot traffic is an issue.
The concessions and restrooms on the east side are even sketchier than on the west side.

We'll likely end up with half the crowd on one side, the other half on the other, and the crowd will still be diluted and small no matter what perspective you take.

This press release is just as embarrassing. Only reason it isn't getting wide distribution and derision on sites like Deadspin is because the guys and Deadspin have no idea what a UAB is.
