Exclamation Football Game 11: Mercer 7, Marist 33---FINAL (9-2, 5-2 Pioneer)
This is it! Mercer's amazing season continues, and their down to basically 1 game for a regular season championship. Mercer still has to beat Stetson at home next week, but this Marist team is the obstacle in the way. Both teams have only 1 loss in conference play, so it's clear why this game means so much.

The weather looks pretty good! No chance of rain, and a high of 56. Not bad considering it's up in New York. No real advantage there for Marist. It was that cold in Macon last week.

Looking at Marist's stats, they are a solid defensive team, but not nearly as powerful on offense as teams Mercer has already beat.

- Mercer is clearly superior when it comes to the ground game. There's no real comparison there.

- Marist is better through the air in terms of total passing yards. While Mercer may not post a ton of passing yards, they are efficient and make very few mistakes. Pass Efficiency has Marist #2 and Mercer #3, with near equal numbers.

- The defenses are nearly equal in stats as well. Both have a high number of interceptions, and both have returned 2 for touchdowns.

- Field goals are an area that Mercer has an edge. Mercer has made 11 of 13 FG's and Marist only 4 of 10 made attempts! That could be a game changer as we saw with Jacksonville missing a FG.

- Marist is tougher on 3rd down conversions allowed (they allow 33% while Mercer allows 40%). So this is an area Mercer is going to have to step their game up, which I know they can.

- 4th down is a different story all together. Mercer is 12 of 16 on 4th down for a 75% rate. Marist is only 7 of 16 for 44%. That could definitely be critical if we get them in a 4th down situation. Especially with their lack of kicking skills. Looks like they struggle unless they get in the endzone.

RE: Football Game 11: Mercer @ Marist---Saturday/1PM
So far the Marist website is a complete joke. I paid $15 for video and that stopped working right before the opening kickoff. The live stats don't work either. I'll be emailing for my money back, and for anyone thinking of buying I hope you hold off! I'm back on Mercer radio and it's a 7-7 score.

I say it's a complete joke because it's the most expensive purchase I've seen, and it doesn't work. Campbell was free with high quality production.

It took the 11th game of the season to really see a game where Mercer looked like a 1st year program. Everything that could go wrong, went wrong basically. Turnovers, injuries, and just inability to sustain momentum. Marist capitalized and played some solid football to win 33-7. Congrats to them on their victory. Nothing for Mercer to hang their head about, they can still come back next week and stomp Stetson for win #10. To think we'd be in position for 10 wins in the first year of the program rebirth is amazing. Anyone would have been called crazy to state that before the season. These players and coaches have given us such an entertaining year. Now let's get 1 more win at homecoming!!
