NIU Defense: 3 Points in the Second Half
Again, yet again, this team tightens it up and makes the necessary haltime adjustments to handle the opposing offense in the second half. This cannot be overlooked, as bad as the defense plays in all these games, they have consistently turned it up in the second half. Well done coaches, cannot salute you enough for this!

Our coaches - all of them - are the best I've seen. It's rare when they make a mistake. And they certainly know how to coach!

We do a ton of rotations in the defense to keep it fresh and I think it's a big reason for how our defense is able to be so impacting in the second half. First half is always scary though...

Well I'm still scratching my head about the decision to use two timeouts to try to ice BSU's kicker when they should have saved one for the next drive. If they had a timeout they could have easily put up 3 or 7 right before the half.

NIU Defense did not give up the big play. They were being dinked and dunked but not the 60 yarder...NIU had 2 of them and possibly more.

Making the switch from Santa to Payton helped a ton. Santa was getting lit up all night.

RE: NIU Defense: 3 Points in the Second Half
In the 2nd half, they've given up (starting with Iowa):
3,7,19,14,7,6,3,17,6,3 points. 19 against EIU is the only number scored against starters, really. 14 from Purdue and 17 from EMU were at least partly against backups.
