Complaining about Bourne/Mickey/Rose on an internet message board does precisely nothing to actually help your cause. The only thing it does is make these boards less readable.

The activity on this board is off the chart. This board is electronic meth. There have been days this board is max csnbbs active. We have threads with hundreds of thousands of hits. We have regulars from other schools. I guarantee you JMU officials read this board. I once saw, with my own two eyes, the CAAZone open on Taw. Moore's computer. Is it effective, maybe not, an A-bomb may not move this crowd, that may be the addiction.

I can often tell my wife what will be in the DNR the next day based on reading this board.

What's the next prediction, CUSA & MAC teams won't ever crack the top 25?

Seems to me that VCU, another school with vision recently earned and received major national PR, you're up GMU.

It's sad.

GMU is kind of in the same boat as us...new president that wants to change the direction of the school that had to be dragged kicking and screaming out of a watered down CAA.

Which rumor is true? I heard gmu didn't get into the a10 during the first round of realignment with Vcu and had to wait for more schools to leave. They were willing, just not able with no invite.

RE: JMU vs Elon or vs. VA Tech
Potomac you are correct, GMU wanted to join the A10 with VCU but did not get an offer at the same time. The problem was, we all could see the writing on the wall that GMU was going to join the A10 once the conference suffered a deflection except our own leadership. A year later the Big East divides into two conferences and steals a few A10 schools to open up a spot for GMU.

Once GMU was extended/accepted an offer to join the A10 we then finally decide to commission a feasibility study.

Linwood Rose had a vision too. He envisioned JMU aligning with schools like Elon, and he did everything in his power until the day he left to ensure that his vision became reality. Pathetic, small-minded people should never be trusted with leadership roles.

Calling Rose pathetic is uncalled for. This is a forum about sports.

While the name calling can be perceived as harsh, Linwood Rose's leadership did have an impact on where JMU is today regarding sports. As a result, we are in react mode while other athletic programs have moved on to bigger and better things.

RE: JMU vs Elon or vs. VA Tech
All I know about Linwood Rose is what I read here, but the ire directed towards him seems to me presume knowledge about the man that's simply not in existence. I'll take it for granted that he didn't want JMU to play FBS football, that he resisted efforts to move in that direction, and that he rejected obvious, existing opportunities to do so.

I think that you can do all those things and have the school's best interests at heart. Moving to FBS will require a significant expenditure of funds that has to come from somewhere. I think there were multiple points in any given year in any year of Rose's tenure when you could have looked at JMU's finances and said with conviction that there was no realistic way for JMU to get that money absent an unplanned infusion from an unrealistic source. Would we raise tuition 10% to fund a move, or fees by 20%, or expect the state to rain cash on us? Would alumni suddenly cough up millions they hadn't been giving up before? What conference JMU could expect to get into would pay out the money needed? That's indeed a cautious way to look at it, but a certain amount of caution is required in the role of a University president. To react differently to the conference upheaval of the past few years would have required a visionary leader willing to take risks, but saying that Linwood Rose was not those things does not also mean you have to subscribe ulterior motives to him.

There are days when this board seems to have been overrun by 6-year-olds.
