SEC leads the AP rankings with 7 ranked teams, B12, AAC, and PAC each have 4 ranked teams. BiG is last with 3. Three NonBCS teams are ranked.

Average SEC Ranking: 11.6

PACIFIC COAST CONFERENCE: 4 Ranked Teams

Average PAC Ranking: 11.25

ATLANTIC COAST CONFERENCE: 4 Ranked Teams

Average AAC Ranking: 13.25

Average B12 Ranking: 15.25

BIG TEN CONFERENCE: 3 Ranked Teams

Average BiG Ranking: 11.3

Louisville is not in the ACC this year. If they were, they would have played Clemson and FSU as they are taking Maryland's place in the Atlantic Division.

the weirder stat is the "average ranking" because it only counts those in the top 25 - not the conference, so it really doesn't mean anything. are we supposed to conclude that, on average, the SEC and BIG are roughly equal because their average rankings are similar?

This is tallgrass' way of trolling those in the AAC. Well done as usual.

RE: AP Football Rankings Summarized by Conferences, 11/13/2013
B12 bashing is a favorite pastime on this board and so I decided to see how B12 ranks with other conferences, given that this is a horrendous year for the B12 with WVA and TCU have really bad years and Texas and Oklahoma not performing up to their normal high levels.

It seems that once WVA and TCU recover, Texas and OU get it going, and throw in a new B12 contender in Baylor, the B12 will be just fine next year. This year, throw B12 in the garbage can....although it will be interesting to see how Baylor finishes the season.

B12's excellent bowls give the B12 a chance to redeem itself for the year....or get creamed again in those bowls and add more misery to a very bad year.

On the other hand, in a very horrendous B12 football season, the B12 standings compared to, for example, BiG or PAC, is not as horrendous as the many posts on this board imply. The B12 has 2 teams in the AP Top 12, the same as PAC and ACC and one more than BiG.

The many B12 bashing posts on this board I assume is driven by those eastern AAC schools that envision themselves as the eastern division of a left behind B12 western schools.

I hope I never get as delusional as Tallgrass.

I am imagining the person / situation that would be behind these posts. It is frightening / scary / sad... all at the same time.

In terms of Big12 bashing... I don't see it. Its a good league. Just is behind in the trends.

I think the only reason the Big12 is viewed as more susceptible to being divided up is because it hasn't been around as long as others and people are picking up on how the members don't feel as connected to one another as other groups which have been playing for longer.

Of course, a few exceptions with the leftovers from previous conferences but overall they are just less rooted.

B12 is a fine conference; the problem this year is that too many B12 teams have quarterback issues. The lack of quality QB play has made for a very disappointing season. But that can be fixed and the B12 should rebound.

QUARTERBACK, USUALLY A POSITION OF STRENGTH IN BIG 12, HIT BY INJURIES, POOR PLAY
Associated Press, November 11, 2013

"For years, the strength of the Big 12 was tied largely to its star quarterbacks."

"Not this year."

"....Injuries and inconsistent quarterback play has dogged nearly every team in the league."

"If the Big 12 is down in 2013, spotty quarterback play has had a lot to do with it."
