d00k would. We (Carolina) have owned UConn as of late. ;-)

He said greatest group (i.e. collection) of programs ever assembled - NOT the greatest programs all assembled into one group.
In addition to Duke and UNC, you'll notice UCLA, Kentucky, Kansas, and Indiana aren't in the Big East either.
But if one were to list the Top 25 bb programs of all-time, the Big East has 7 or 8 of them. No other league has more than 4.
Cheers,
Neil

Is it just me, or does anyone else get the feeling that the recent feel good stories about the Big East being one big happy family (ie this and Andy Katz's recent story) is a lot of spin from MT and the basketball folks? Maybe I'm just cynical, but it seems like all of the quotes and good feelings are coming from MT and his basketball boys.

Dude I hardly call those games you OWNED us. If I remember correctly, most of those games went down to the final wires and could have gone both way. I would love to see my Huskies take on your Tarheels again cause it was a great series. Either way, your team would have a much harder time in the BE than in the ACC.

You got that right. The FB schools will split when it is time. UCONN and CUSE have been feeding the BE with BB money for years, it is time to get some for ourselves.

meineke fibbers
Mitch Vingle exaggerated a little bit in his article. The Big East doesn't have ties to seven bowls because the Gator Bowl and Sun Bowl, for all practical purposes, count as one bowl. It is not like the Big East could ever send schools to both in the same year.
Anyway this article proves what Krocker was saying yesterday about the Meineke people doing this Navy thing behind the backs of the Big East. So funny how people let their imaginations go wild by speculating that this was some Big East plan with Navy.
They absolutely gotta save the Houston Bowl now. Can you imagine if Notre Dame takes the Gator/Sun and Navy takes the Meineke? At least sending the runner-up to Houston against the Big 12 is respectable. Going to Toronto or Birmingham though? Uck!

1) But we won the last 2 (IIRC). Now, you know I have to poke fun, just as I'd expect you would if the results been reversed. ;-)
2) I'd love to see the Heels and Huskies play every season. Makes for great entertainment.
3) Only if you agree that UConn would struggle in the ACC would I ever agree that Carolina would have a harder time in the Big East. Otherwise, I'm not buying it.

1) Of course. UCONN fans have much better relationship with UNC fans than with Duke fans. You guys know how we feel about Duke fans. I am still pissed we lost number of recruiting battles against you guys last year. Either way, we got a great class too so who knows who actually got the better class until next few years.
2) Me too. I think the UNC series was good for college basketball. I would love to see Huskies play you guys every year. I know Calhoun is trying to schedule a series with Kentucky. We tried with Duke but I heard coach rat face did not want to play us. I can understand that cause we have owned Duke lately.
3) Now we do have UCONN-lite (UVA with old UCONN asst. coach) so we will see how he performs in the next few years. I think BE conference is just too much even for basketball. I am sure a lot of coaches will get fired cause they won't even make it to the BE tournament never mind the NCAA. I don't know how we will do exactly in the ACC except I think we will do pretty well. I have no doubt we will be in the top half of the conference year in and year out.

We have some common ground. Especially when it comes to RatFace.
(in a weak attempt to bring this back to a football theme....)
RatFace IS the reason d00k sucks at football and I was hoping he would have taken his carcass out to LA where we wouldn't have to care about him.
Once you guys (UConn) starting winning FB games on the regular -- not that you haven't, the Tire Bowl will have another (fanbase) option at its disposal and won't have to rely on Navy to generate fan interest.

Yep. I was hoping he would go to LA too. As for the Tire bowl, I think UCONN will bring ALOT of fans to this bowl. Last year the bowl people were openly cheering for UCONN to be eligible when they were watching the UCONN/UL game. It was pretty clear why they preferred UCONN over USF. I fully expect us to be bowl-eligible this year and go to a nice bowl game. Tire Bowl vs. the ACC will be fine if we don't make it to the BCS or the Gator.

Yeah, I was sorry to see your QBs go down to injury because I'm curious to see what type of fanbase UConn can deliver to a southern-based bowl.
Of course, I say that because I'm silently rooting for another round of ACC expansion involving the Huskies -- but that's another thread for another time.

The question is, how many friggin teams does a conference need?

The WF fans want us in, too. And if Mikey T continues to degrade football like he is doing right now...
But you're right, another time!

The sad thing here is we were giving our no. 3 (maybe 2) to a bowl (houston) that was nearly bankrupt while telling a bowl (charlotte) we had for years they had to keep the same slot they had. We're fortunate we didn't lose it altogether.

The fact that he was "blindsided" once again oughta tell you something. If the football schools are smart they will split and form their own league and STILL get a huge basketball deal and the same football deal. Maybe better. Because then we can put a commissioner in place that actually knows a thing or two about football. Because, right now, the only people benefitting from this arrangement is Navy, Notre Dame and the non-Division I-A football playing basketball schools. How is West Virginia, or Louisville or Cincinnati or Pitt or whoever else place D-IA football benefitting from this?
