http://www.sbnation.com/college-football...-committee

The CFP Selection Committee sets 2-4 year term limits for its members, presumably to be replaced by others who will serve 3-4 year terms such that each year 4-5 members of the committee will be replaced.

Leaving after the 2015 season:

Pat Haden
Mike Tranghese
Lt. Gen. Michael Gould

Leaving after the 2016 season:
Barry Alvarez
Oliver Luck
Archie Manning
Condoleezza Rice

Leaving after the 2017 season:
Dan Radakovich
Jeff Long (chairman)
Steve Weiberg
Tom Jernstedt
Tyrone Willingham

wonder if it'll be something like ok Tom Osborne leaves in 2016. He's replaced by another Big Ten guy.

In the case of the five P5 AD's, I think you're probably right. In the case of Tom Osborne who is more of an "at-large" pick, I am not so sure.

Ty Willingham needs a job somewhere, I guess.

I had figured he would have invested his ND and Washington buyouts somewhere to obtain a nice revenue stream, though.

It's only a matter of time before we hate this way of doing things as much as the last way of finding a champion.

Does anyone know if these dudes get paid or is this considered a pro bono type use of their time?

They probably will get expenses paid. If they got paid under the table like our Congressmen do then one thing's for sure - they wouldn't have set term limits!

The best conceived plans of man can never account for all the unintended consequences that plan.

That is why you have political parties with different viewpoints (angles). They attempt to provide quality assurance and evaluation of whatever policy or decision being made. Dictatorships have always failed when all the answers come from the top down without critique.

I would guess they get something for their troubles. The CFP is keeping a decent amount of money form the TV revenue for "operations costs." Given the complexity of their decisions, the time needed each week for film evaluation (assuming that they actually do the job they were given instead of mailing it in four times a season), and the amount of travel they have to do, I would think that is worth at least what these people charge in speaking/appearance fees.

They've said that CFP committee members are unpaid. But they can be extremely generous with paying for "expenses" and no doubt they will be -- these issues have already been dealt with for the "unpaid" basketball selection committee members.
