NT's Brandin Byrd - Earl Campbell National Player Of The Week
Nov. 11, 2013

DENTON, Texas – North Texas running back, Brandin Byrd, has been selected as The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award National Player of the Week for the eleventh week of the college football season.

Byrd rushed for a career-high 202 yards on 18 carries and had two touchdowns in the 41-7 win over UTEP. Byrd averaged 11.2 yards per carry in the game, breaking an 82-yard touchdown in the third quarter, which was the second-longest rush by a Conference USA player this season.

His 202 rushing yards was the most by a North Texas running back since Lance Dunbar went for 313 vs. Middle Tennessee in 2011. Byrd’s previous best career rushing day was 139 yards earlier this season.

Byrd began the scoring with a 2-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, to put the Mean Green ahead for good. His 82-yard carry is the second 80-yard run of his career and he is the only player in school history with two runs for over 80 yards.

The win also keeps North Texas atop the Conference USA West-Division standings with an overall record of 7-3 and a conference record of 5-1, half a game up on Rice.
