can I suggest an edit? By all accounts, the Huskies sponsor an Elite women's team.

RE: UCONN is gaining speed>>>
As I posted elsewhere, UConn experiences Groundhog Day on this board. The steps involved:

1) Someone (not a UConn fan) posts a realignment scenario and inevitably mentions UConn.

2) The UConn haters come out and say the Huskies really belong in the Horizon Conference.

3) UConn fans defend the school, all hell breaks loose, and (occasionally) the mods shut down the thread.

4) Then we wait a week, and the cycle begins again.

Oh, UConn, the proper photo for your response to Miko is more like this:

I know exactly what he's doing.

These boards would be less interesting w/o miko. I need to know who's gaining speed and why we should vote Libertarian.

we'll welcome UConn into the Big West anyday. All they have to do is call.

Ha. Well said. The same thing could be said about any number of topics on this board. But, I also agree that the board is better with Miko around.

And the discussions continue. Herbst recently traveled to Chicago. I think she was pleading her case for UCONN. Not sure if it will do anything, but it looks good to the fans. That's what my sources tell me.

I think UCONN will eventually find itself in a major conference. They have historical mens & woman's basketball programs and strong academics. If they can get the football back to where Randy Etsell had it their stock will rise dramtically. Don't listen to the haters!

But any rational judgement of UConn has to conclude that they should be on the P5 side of the P5/G5 divide. Is UConn in the same class as Michigan or Florida? Of course not. But the gap between UConn and the elite is smaller than the gap between UConn and the "not now, not ever" elite. Right now, they are in this purgatory because there simply isn't anywhere for them to go. The challenge for the Huskies is to not wither on the vine over the next few (several?) years before another round of expansion.

I agree but Cincy, BYU and a few others have solid arguments too.

I think eventual P5 expansion to 75-80 teams is the way to go. Add in the Big East Hoops too.

At least as far as UConn/Cinci go, I think we have 3 years to make the case...then its gets ugly (when the Big East exit money goes).

Oh we know, expansion is far from over and there are many more pieces that need to be made. UConn will get into a power conference eventually, but it might take a decade or more...who knows?

I'm nore concerned about our football coaching situation than anything else at this point. With the roster we have, spending some time in the AAC will be good for us.
