Not really. We graduated 6-2 & 6-3 up front. Newcomers are Reecher 6-3, Monakana 6-0, Braun 6-0 and then smaller.

Who was 6'3....and we gained height at every position...

Kyle B, so we actually lost height in the post with Yo going 6'2". Gained elsewhere. The main site called MVSU "ultra-athletic". Anyone know what game they were watching? MVSU looked very slow and they certainly weren't quick. Didn't block many shots ...Drexler was much more athletic and Villanova even more so. Tossing them a bone I guess. Not even a real bone.

Kyle was not a true five.....she was more effective outside facing the basket...tall players on the perimeter are a real addition which can be a big advantage for us in the near future....one of the most effective ways of stopping a good inside threat is with taller perimeter players making it harder to make entry passes....can give you reasons for that but I am sure you know the reasons...a lot of people on here on keep talking about Crunch returning....I have a few questions...was she good enough to start last year....was she a good defender inside....was she a big time rebounder....did she score inside or did she get most of her points on mid range shots....and what kind of shape do you think she is in...I wish she would be able to help us but I think we are heading in the right direction without her....hope we are all right....time will tell

The answer to all your Crunch questions is No, but there will be nights when we need a big body on an opposing center and she gives us that option. Reecher only gets five fouls and there will be nights when they come quick. We're OK without Crunch, we're better with her.

I would love to see Crunch have a great senior year...she is a nice young lady and from Toledo...the team is playing at a much faster pace than I think she can play at...I hope I am wrong....but years of experience tell me she can't....having said that... I think you are right that we will be better with her able to play...she has taken a leadership role in practice that will help with the development of the young team we have...you are a true "blue" Rocket...this is going to be a great season for all of us....I truly believe that is one of the most athletic teams we have ever had....and one of best freshman classes that the Rockets have had.....time will tell ....thanks for your positive attitude!

Krunch wasn't good enough to start ahead of Smith or Richardson last year, but she's good enough to start this year. We'll definitely be a better team when she returns.

RE: Game thread: Toledo vs. Mississippi Valley State
The three teams we have played thus far have had no real inside presence to speak of. Although MVSU had some big bodies, I believe they were all freshman whose skills haven't developed yet. That is gonna change going forward, where we are gonna play against teams that have big bodies inside. Reecher is gonna continue to improve, but can only provide about 25 minutes a game at best right now. Ana is game to bang with the bigger girls but is prone to fouls, and her offense will be stymied a lot if she has to go against players 4-6 inches taller than her all the time.

We need Krunch if for no other reasons to provide quality minutes against the other bigs we are gonna see, on both ends of the court. Although she may not have been as good as Yo, she has skills that Yo didn't. She can hit a jumper and can make her own space driving to the hoop. Those things will open up more space for others on the team, and also force the opponent 4s and 5s to work harder on defense and wear down a bit.

RE: Game thread: Toledo vs. Mississippi Valley State
Purdue is going to be an interesting match up. They start very small lineup, but are a veteran team with 3 seniors starting. Ball State played them very tough, and actually out-rebounded them and shot better from the field than Purdue did. 2 players for Purdue accounted for 50% of their shots, so it looks like those may be the key players to stop. The box score indicates that turnovers were the key, as BSU had 28.

Just saw that Inma was selected MAC West Player of the week. Well deserved.

When will Crunch return, anyone know? I was fortunate enough to get to know her in my freshman biology class at Central Catholic. She was a very funny and likable person. She is my favorite Lady Rocket and I'm hoping for a big senior season for her. She most certainly deserves it.

Coach Cullop said she expects the players on IR to be ready for MAC play which begins Jan. 4th with Central Michigan at Mt. Pleasant. She added that Crunch is closest to being ready to play and that she has been a part time participant in practice. Ultimately, Coach said that she was at the mercy of the trainers/doctors.

Yep. She can do it all. You can see her leadership skills as she has clearly joined with Andola in taking on that role. She'll be a great one.
