Just tuned-in in time to see a couple three pointers go in along with free throws made - what a difference! But what's up with the camera work where Rockets driving to the basket disappear from RocketVision?

What a difference a day makes. Shooting 51% from the floor and 68% from the line. 3-11 from 3.

Rebounding doubling up MVSU, as Rockets lead 29-14.

Of MVSUs starters, 4 have 3 fouls and the other left the game early with an injury.

If the announcer calls their center a "big girl" one more time he may not get out of the arena safely.

RE: Game thread: Toledo vs. Mississippi Valley State
Lots of good in this game. Shooting improved drastically, especially at the line. Inma a double-double with 24/16. Recker also a double-double with 13/10. 6 players in double figures. 61 boards. Reecher showed some real promise in the post.

Lots of things still to work on too. Transition D was pretty bad a times. 3 point shooting still not good enough to get teams out of playing zones against us.

Purdue is gonna be a huge step up in competition, so hopefully we continue to improve.

Nicely done, Lady Rockets! Way to battle back from a disappointing game yesterday. I don't care if the opponent wasn't top 25 material--this game was as much about the Rockets making improvements as it was anything else. Let's get out of the Purdue game without any injuries and hopefully we get Crunch and maybe DeAlfredo in the game? Have only seen 3 of the 5 freshmen but like the potential. Inma was, well, Inma, and Dola bounced back as well. Nelly will be a nice sub off the bench with senior leadership if DeAlfredo is good enough to start. Want to see Baker--some older video shows she can also hit the three. Might be times when all 5 freshmen are on the floor together. Nice to see Recker and Capotosto get some points going--if at least one of them can hit double figures each game, we could have a better season in store than I hoped possible.

Mississippi Valley State was the most pathetic Division I basketball team I can remember seeing. And the refs were almost as bad as MVSU.

Refs seemed avg to me. I could see the effect of the new rules more today with some ticky- tac fouls on the perimeter but that's the new rules, I guess. MVSU is terrible but they played Nova better than this, although not much. Won 17 last year, IIRC. Like the men, they needed a laugher to get some of the nerves out.

Love Reechers attitude. Spoke to her dad who said she was obviously having a lot of fun. Braun looked solid on the boards, just needs to have better hands when she comes down as she got stripped a couple times. Inma for a double- double. In the first HALF? She was amazing. Capatosto never met a shot she didn't like, a real scorer's mentality. When her shots started dropping she looked much more comfortable.

RE: Game thread: Toledo vs. Mississippi Valley State
This was just what the Rockets needed---a team that they could totally dominate even when playing 3 freshmen at the same time. This turned into a run and shoot sort of up tempo game particularly in the second half rather than the very deliberate, highly disciplined sort of game I have become accustomed to expect, but it produced a number of Rockets scoring in double digits and everyone seemed to have a good time. Inma has taken every aspect of her game to a new level ---she could have easily scored 30-35 points today except she spent most of her floor time in the 2nd half trying to dish out assists. I was also impressed with how Inma, Dola and Braun collectively combined for 17/17 FT with Inma going 12/12 in stark contract to the team performance yesterday.

There are going to be a bunch of ups and downs for a while this season but once the Rockets are at full strength and pick up more experience I think that they are going to be a force to be reckoned with. At present the MAC appears to have a number of teams capable of playing at a high level, so this may be an interesting year.

Free throw shooting will be important this year if the refs keep calling fouls like they did today. Today we were 27-40, which is decent but not great. For the weekend, 35-63. I can't wait to see this team with everyone healthy.

Crunch will make a huge difference. I don't think she's the most talented player we have but she brings several things to the table. She can shoot the mid-range j, clog the middle to stop the easy penetration and allow our wings to close out more quickly on the kickout to the three point shooters and she provides more senior leadership. In the meantime we are forced to play with no true post player or use a developing frosh who will be quite good but will experience growing pains. Problem is I've seen no indication when ANY of our injured players might return.

In an interview last week Coach C indicated she thought 1 of the three might play this weekend, but that obviously didn't happen. She didn't say who. So I gotta think (hope) that at least 1 will be dressed for Purdue.

You are right....taller...quicker...and more athletic...all they need is time to gain experience and confidence...

Not really. We graduated 6-2 & 6-3 up front. Newcomers are Reecher 6-3, Monakana 6-0, Braun 6-0 and then smaller.

Who was 6'3....and we gained height at every position...
