Ok I know I have the rep as the pessimist...but I don't know that we can gauge very much from the loss to Drexel. Even with a full team this was gonna be a challenging season. Playing only 8 with your 3 off the bench being true freshmen is tough. Drexel looked like a nice team--very disciplined on offense--but beatable. Inma and Dola struggled a bit, we couldn't make free throws, and the 3 both offensively & defensively really hurt us. Change a couple of those factors and we might still have won in spite of other challenges. Lets see where Capotosto and Reeker are after a few more games. Really liked Monakono! Nice boost off the bench and she seems to get into the flow of the game quickly when she steps on the floor. Reecher will need playing time to improve and with Crunch out, she will get it. I think if either Baker or De Alfredo can be 33% from the 3 they will see a lot of time on the floor when healthy.

Because of my ref schedule, the only chance I get to see this team in 2013 is next Sunday vs Purdue. I think we'll be competitive. I'm intrigued by the freshmen and how much Recker and Capotosto have improved.

Agree that the freshmen will be interesting, especially when we get the two injured ones back. Not sure what you saw in Recker today. One game doesn't make a season, but I didn't think she showed much. Capotosto was interesting. She shot poorly, but she battled like crazy and got a lot of rebounds. From what I understand, our two best shooters were injured, so getting them back should help. I thought Dortch needed to be more aggressive offensively today. She was her usual self on defense, though.

I didn't listen to the game so I'm not sure how Recker looked today. I figure she is going to contribute significant minutes at some point this season. She has to. We will need every available body to get through the season.

RE: Patience, Lady Rocket Fans
Seems like we've been waiting awhile to see Recker and Capotosto become contributors...I hope it happens this season! Unfortunately, at this level there's more to it than playing hard, which both do. Like I said, lets see where both are after a few more games. Tough early portion to this schedule. But if neither becomes a more reliable scorer, then I'm not sure how often Coach can afford to have them both on the floor at the same time--once everyone's healthy, the freshmen may be given more chances to become scorers. But let me clear--the team will be better if Recker and Capotosto improve rather than having to rely on the freshmen too quickly.

The good
-Pretty energetic crowd
-Coach Cullop is still our coach

The bad
-Horrific free throw shooting (that was just hard to watch)
-Terrible shooting
-Seems like half our team is injured

Lets get it together Lady Rockets!! I know they can do it.
